    Italian indie studio Raylight Games was seeking $270,000 on crowdfunding website Kickstarter to finance development of Illo – Birth Of The Cool, a handsome puzzle adventure game for iOS and Android. It’s not the first, of course, and it surely won’t be the last, but this is a project with a difference: the team is documenting their Kickstarter experience in an exclusive diary here on Edge. In this, the third and final installment, the Italian studio explains why it has made the difficult decision to pull its project off of Kickstarter and seek more traditional funding opportunities.

    Illo - Birth Of The Cool: a Kickstarter dev diary

    Well, we’re finally here on Day One of our Kickstarter US funding round, and I must admit we’re nervous and excited in equal measure. The journey of Illo – Birth Of The Cool has been a long one (the idea started in 2006) but in just 35 days’ time we could actually start to develop the game; not because a publisher said “yes”, but because thousands of Kickstarter backers from all over the world have decided they want to contribute to the project, and that’s hugely exciting.
