Balancing gameplay with a family

Gone are the days when I can tuck in for a 6-8 hour game session.  Now, gaming occurs after the kids are in bed, and only a few times per week so that other responsibilities aren't neglected - y'know,  the wife, the bills, etc.  I'm interested in what other gamer husbands/dads are doing.  Will I have to give up gaming altogether?, or maybe switch to family friendly Wii games that we all can share.  It's the one argument I haven't heard about the Wii, actually - that the first gamers from the 70s and 80s like myself are now casual gamers, simply due to demands on their time.  Maybe Nintendo has been thinking of us all along?  Lastly, there are between 8-15 games I want to pickup between now and Christmas - how am I going to pay for that?  It sure is a great time to be a gamer, but I never did get around to buying/playing Assassin's Creed last year, for example; it looks like this holiday will have a similar problem.  Looking forward to more community discussions.  Jerry
