So I'll be heading into E3 tomorrow to do my final rounds at the show and to say my goodbyes to colleagues from far away. I have to say, this year's show is a definite improvement over the pure non-sense format of Santa Monica, but I do miss the big show.
It was a little sad walking around a Convention Center that at times seemed like a ghost town and reminiscing on just how much bigger and more boisterous the show was in the past. E3 used to feel like a city within a city, and that was a great feeling. Knowing that everyone who worked in games was going to be at the show at any given moment was something special.
I just hope that they keep expanding the show and bring it back to its old proportions, but maybe with fewer GameStop/Best Buy employees cluttering up the aisles. The press has been doing a great job of keeping the "big-show" feeling of E3 alive, but truthfully I ask, how can an industry as large and as global as ours not have one singular, over-the-top event to showcase itself to the world?
I miss the big show...
