"How to lose friends and ostracize people!!"

"Generally we're a community of cowards, finally getting to talk a good game, without the  risk of physical confrontation" WarChylde83 - 2009.

So let me get this straight. If you dare to have strong opinions about a product that you  like, you're a fanboy, if you like to ram your strong opinions down others throats, are  you not a troll or a griefer?  So how does one avoid being a either of these? Does anyone  know? On these terms, It seems as though you're damned if you do and damned if you  don't... So I ask? Why do we torture ourselves? Why do we waste our time beating each  other over the head with our opinions?

In the real world you wouldn't dare to call somebody a fanboy or insult them in any way.  You'd be polite and courteous and you'd listen to their opinions (unless you didn't like  the person, but then why would you be talking to them in the first place?), you may not even agree with them!! That being the case, would you not politely voice how you think your  opinion differs, offering a correction or something that they may not have thought of? is  that not how a conversation works? Without hostility and rudeness? If you conducted a conversation in an aggressive manner  as so often seen in some threads. You'd quite quickly  find yourself being ostracized or possible worse

So? What makes people think that it's acceptable behaviour here? Is it the anonymity? Or a  genuine lack of respect for one another?  What is it that makes people think it's their  right to say what they please to who they please? I'd really like to know! This is purely  an observation, it's not my intension to be pious, you must understand that there is  large number of people on the net that are guilty to some degree including myself.  I notice that  fanboy and noob get used quite a lot in derogatory fashion, it's funny at first, but  people soon get upset by it and if it's continually used in this fashion, is that not  bullying? Is it not discriminatory?

Surely here on Edge, many of us share much in common. We're all here for the same reason  aren't we? We all have a passion for computer games, Edge caters for all formats and offer a balance view of the games industry. If we just wanted to read the same party line, We'd be off reading OXM or OPSM I believe as do other that Edge offers something different, more palatable even. So it begs the question what is this whole MS vs. Sony thing about? It's completely crazy!? as long as you  are enjoying the experience on the console you have, Aside from the exclusives and  visual peculiarities common on both console. The games are exactly the same, so I just  can't fathom why so many news threads get dragged down. It Just doesn't seem very constructive.

Excellent blog - only just found it thanks to a 3rd hand link.

Hey! Edge! How are we supposed to find the blogs that are being posted?

The Community Spotlight is great (although MIA this week) but why can't we have a "Blogs" navigation at the top of the page (I mean, the Keynotes are just Blogs from VIPs - and they get a link all to themselves).
