LIMITED MODEL ACTION:HEAVY METAL L-GAIM

This figure is from a Japanese robot animation series called "Heavy Metal L-Gaim".

As you might have noticed, there are many Japanese animation serials concerning robots. These serials are generally divided into two types.

The first type is the "Super Robot" -- special robots with unrealistic powers, like "Getter Robo", who we talked about last time.

The other type is the "Real Robot", which is based in science fiction and presents a perhaps-possible reality.

"Heavy Metal L-Gaim" is a robot series by Mr. Yoshiyuki Tomino, the director of "Mobile Suit Gundam".

Mr. Mamoru Nagano, a world authority on mechanical design, handled the design of L-Gaim. The result is a robot that transcends the boundaries of anime robots, and more resembles genuinely beautiful industrial design.

I remember that one from childhood as the one which "sort of looks like Gundam, but isn't"

would you say Super Robots can also be beautiful as industrial design is?
What about L-Gaim do you find transcends those boundaries?

Wow, that thing is a beast compared to the other toys you've shown so far. Pricey, too, at least if you want to order one online.

Are these all in your office or on your desk all the time?
