PC vs Console: Round 1
OK, because the discussion was taking up the Ubisoft thread, I'll bring it out here.
I play games mainly on consoles. Dreamhunk plays games mainly on PC's. Dreamhunk also, it seems is of the opinion that consoles and their games are pointless, and not worth bothering with. Whilst I don't play PC games, my viewpoint isn't the same of PC games.
So I got to wondering, perhaps we simply play games that are radically different to each other. This would explain why we have such opposing viewpoints. So let's find out.
If I had to pick my 5 favourite games of all time, I'd probably call it a stupid question, but if pressed, off the top of my head, I'd go with Shenmue, Rock Band 2, Halo 3, Broken Sword and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Some may consider the last one cheating, so sue me. If I then had to list the 5 most played recent games (a far more reasonable question) I'd go with Rock Band 2, Halo 3, Smackdown vs Raw 2009, Halo Wars and Legends of Wrestlemania.
So to gain some insight into this discussion, Dreamhunk, if you'd care to compile your own lists, perhaps we can shed some light on why our feelings on console and PC games are so opposite. This venture aims to promote peace, understanding and love for all our brothers and sisters be they on PC, or PS3. After that, perhaps we can get into the mouse+keyboard / control pad debate!

there is a ton of gamers who would agree with me. I would even bet must pc gamers would say meh to that game. Only real game devs and real games can make big in the pc gaming market. I bet if that game was to hit the pc gaming market. Pc gamers would pass it up. I find console gamers seem to like the weak type of games.

Yes the console games are shollow. There is no other way of me putting it nicely. Console games are nothing more than water down games. You have shollow rpg`s on console. The fps shooters don`t even run right. console action games are nothing more than mindless button mashing. You know the game ``fear`` it use to be a really hot game. I hear it only sold 100 000. I wonder why is it because it had to get watered down for consoles. I hear it wasn`t even worth buying. I guess that is what happens great games get dumb down. They only console port i was impressed with was mass effect and kotor, but then agin it`s bio-ware every game they put their hands to is always magic. Even if the game was buggy and had some problems.

1) That link you supplied is total rubbish. I've read it and I was a member of Gamespot at the time when all that happened. After that happened I left Gamespot, especially when I complained about the number of ads and got probation on that site.
The link that you supplied does not back up your claim that MetaCritic is far from perfect, it just backs up that Gamespot is rubbish, which is something that anyone with three brain cells can figure out. Metacritic gets ALL the scores from all the internet review sites and stuff and then they calculate the average review score, with links to each site where they got the scores. Metacritic is considered the definitive review site because it has the final say of the rating of a game.
2) Console games are not shallow. Mass Effect first came out on the console, and was a major hit. If you consider every game a port then I can easily say, by your logic, that the PC version of Mass Effect was dumbed down.

Are you also saying that Final Fantasy games, all of them, are shit? Pokemon, Resident Evil, Final Fantasy, Halo, Gears of War, Pikmin, Mario and Zelda are all shit because they're on a console?!
3) My KOTOR PC game is buggy, but hey, it's still good. Just because it's on the console as well doesn't mean it becomes buggy. They're all the same.

It can't be biased because it calculates scores from all the sites! They even post on their website all of their sources!

well the other day I seen with my own eyes on you tube someone saying how imperfect the system was. Well these days since websites can be be paid to write scores. It can very musch be bias like that link I gave. By the way masseffect is an rpg. with some action in ti. it`s pass abile for a pc game.
However that being said pc gaming does have a higher rating for scoring.

By the way, you don't want to use MetaCritic as a source? Fine, GameRankings then. Ocarina of Time got 97.61%, the highest of ALL TIME. But I guess they're biased too, even though they're just an average of ratings from nearly every other web site/magazine.
