If I am honest about this from the start it'll be easier. In more ways than one I can be called a geek and well Edge Magazine has always been something I've respected. Mainly I think it is the fact that it is a magazine about videogames but for adults, no offence to Games master my old flame... I miss it but I like more information sometimes (you know how it is). The free posters where nice too not that I particularly needed them but still got to make walls look more interesting one way or the other. However Edge not only had very nicely done covers but there was in-depth articles which is good if you were me. The other main benefits were that the magazine was not produced by one of the companies who made the machine and therefore was not focussed on propaganda to either support the hype of what turned out to be disappointment or to try and undermine the competition.
Which I guess is where this comes in really Edge Online when the old website disappeared it was a shame it was graphically nice and pretty but still this website has much more of a sense of community and user submitted content. So there is both the balanced information without spin of the magazine but there is also the addition of real people some in the industry and others not. I digress slightly but Web 2.0 is here I guess and unlike the majority of twitter I find what people are writing relevant; in a sea of voices it's hard to hear everyone at once.
There fore I want to try and keep up with the standards here, I registered because I like what happens here and part of me wants to share my thoughts on games and part of me wants to vent some extreme opinionated views (or in other words Fanboyism) but we'll see. I'll try to write either as often as I can short blogs or every so often long ones where appropriate.
I only get to work in an industry that overlaps with gaming AV technologies marketing, but I'm working on it.
Don't worry about extreme opinions. There's more of that here than you realize, I skew myself, and absolutely legendary ones show up here. As long as you can back up what got you there, it's fine - Oh, and no links unless requested. Links can be obnoxious. This is the best site, bar none, for spotlighting comments; which is what makes it so interesting.
My favorite Mag - Game Informer. It tries to be legitimate, but it's put out by a popular American retail chain. So every game's a winner - Awesome!

Fanboysim? Have you met Dreamhunk yet? You don't know the meaning of fanboyism until you meet him.
Well, welcome to the Escapist. One of the few sites online that is actually conectrated on video games seriously and the industry behind it.
Many of us know the industry very well, either through connections or study or actually working here. The few that I know that have a good understanding is: Myself, Indrema, Nexon7 and a few others, whos names don't come to mind (I'm sorry guys).
Welcome!
