It seems like every site and forum was speculating what would happen at this year's E3. Did all the hype make us overly critical? I think the extra speculation, along with the fact that for most people, the press conferences were the only thing we could really take part in, people were overly critical of them. I had been smuggling my way into E3 for years and never even paid attention to those events, now they are covered everywhere.
I must admit that I bought into all the hype and watched them live online, but really it was a waste of time. Other than revealing consoles, was there any year that was really extraordinary?
I was cringing when I watched the Nintendo show. That woman with the puppy disc game (Has she taken over from Perrin Kaplan?). Was it me or did anyone else pick up on her 'it's all about the wrist action' comment. It was very uncomfortable watching the banter between her and Reggie. His 'Regginator' comment saved the whole thing...
The keynotes were pretty bad and unexciting this year but if you looked outside that and checked out games like Prince of Persia, Force Unleashed, Infomous, Fable 2, Dead Space and Red Faction: Guerrilla you could be quite pleased about the event. Not much announcements but a big pile of cool games that became even cooler now that we seen more of them.
