YAMATO MACROSS SERIES：1/60 Perfectly Transforming VF-1J (pilot: Hikaru Ichijou)

The VF-1J (Valkyrie) is a mech from "Super Dimensional Fortress Macross" (apparently known overseas as "Robotech").

This toy usually sits on the desk of Jun Fukuda, one of GhM's sound designers.  It can transform from fighter jet to humanoid form.

The toys that came out when the show originally aired in 1982 could also transform, but they've really gotten better over time.(Sagaracci)

Who get's hired to make this stuff? Do you need some sort of engineering degree to land a job creating Transformer-style toys, or is it the sort of thing anyone's capable of doing?
