Edge readers needed to play Realtime Worlds' massively multiplayer shooter.
E209, which is now available in UK shops, has a full preview feature on what Realtime describes as its persistent online action game. You might describe it as GTA Online. Or WOW meets Counter-Strike. Now's your chance to decide for yourself.
During our visit to the Dundee-based studio, we met the APB's lead developers and played it for ourselves. You'll find some details about Realtime (and DMA Design) founder David Jones in our recent interview with him here, but pick up a copy for our full impressions.
The team is currently looking to swell APB's ranks of beta testers with Edge readers. To be one of the gang, all you need is a decent specification PC and a broadband connection. Simply fill in the form on Realtime Worlds' website here and they will take your application from there – most testers will be online in just a very short time. If you have any problems, please email support@apb.com.
Enjoy!
Last time I checked APB was set to be on the PC & 360 Lanian, or have you been under a rock?
GTA online? Ok how are they going to balance it? For example when you play Uncharted2 online all the cool weapons are rationed. Which strips out a lot of fun. U dont get the contextual melee from the singleplayer either... which would have been hilarious online. Then u have perks which imo should disadvantage the better players not help them. They are going to have to ration all the pwning weapons & vehicles to stop disproportionate power bubbles developing i.e one talentless dude running around with a pistole, in a monster truck, shi*ting on everyone. How do you find a way to encourage people to play together? Not easy because everyone wants to be the hero online or an anti-authority, anarchist douche. How will they create co-operative power hierarchies online where people participate under a higher authority player? Maybe with AI enforcers or a perk-removal system if you play the fool? Maybe this game is going to be 'trapped in BETA' indefinitely?
any chance of a console version?? Maybe PS3 anyone???
It's APB Edge, not ABP.
Cheers
Argh. Gah. Edited. Thanks for noticing.
I was so hyped for this...
Then I filled in my name. Or tried to. Due to my surname having an apostrophe, I get this error "Please enter a valid answer." And I gave up. I just don't care enough to try and get through the damn tangle of forms, when their forms/databases are so out of date. Anyone with an O' surname is either excluded, or has to change their name. Which is silly.
