Introducing our latest issue, looking at Harmonix's attempt to bring musicianship to rhythm action.
Issue 219 of Edge will be reaching subscribers very soon, and will be in UK shops on Tuesday, and features our visit to Harmonix. We spend some time with Rock Band 3, a game which introduces fully functioning instruments to the rhythm action genre for the first time. Of course, strung guitars and two octave keyboards are not the only peripherals on the developer's mind, and we also take a closer look at its Kinect title, Dance Central.

While games may be widening their definition and exploring new territory, there is still plenty of room for more familiar bombastics. To that end, we play Platinum Games' score-shooter Vanquish and meet its director, Shinji Mikami. In keeping with the theme of evolution, we also explore how EA has remodelled itself into a leaner company - one that has its sights firmly set on reclaiming the number one spot in thirdparty publishing.
Elsewhere in the issue we talk to Alex Garland, writer of The Beach and 28 Days Later, about collaborating with Ninja Theory on Enslaved. And with Rare turning 25 years old we celebrate its birthday, looking back over a quarter of a century of games from one of Britains foremost development studios.
