The answer, Bat-fans, is a 'fortune' and 'years' - these were the two things Batman was lucky to have when he fought Superman in the comic The Dark Knight Returns. Yes, he used Green Arrow's help, a power suit and kryptonite to defeat Superman, but they weren't lucky breaks. It took his huge fortune and the luxury of time to synthesise that crucial kryptonite.
