Roll up, roll up for the inaugural Edge Twitter challenge. Solve a puzzle from upcoming DS title Scribblenauts, developed by 5th Cell and published by Warner, and win some fine booty. Namely, one of the last sets of Edge postcards we have, featuring all 200 cover designs for Edge 200, a copy of the game when it’s released, and a few other Scribblenauts goodies. And what’s this at the bottom of the drawer? Copies of the game for two runners up?

So, the challenge. You must Twitter us the words and methodology needed to solve one of Scribblenauts’ later levels. It's at least conceptually simple, but we're stumped. Maxwell is wearing a top hat attached to a rope, which is attached to a steel block on the roof. The Starite, which you need to bag to complete the level, is suspended in the same manner, but held in a wooden cage. Below Maxwell and the Starite is an empty pool of lava, which will destroy both if touched.

The rules are easy: using up to five objects, placed anywhere in the level, attached to any existing element (not the roof, though the steel boxes will work), you have to get that Starite. The scope of Scribblenauts means that almost any noun you think of can be used – but beware of not thinking through your solution thoroughly. Placing, for example, a platform unsupported by anything else under Maxwell will result in it falling into the lava and burning away to nothing, taking away with it one of your five objects.

If you think you have the answer, just tweet @edgeonline and we'll test it out. The competition will run until 2pm on Friday 17th July, and we’ll announce the winner that afternoon. Please don't put any personal details on your tweets - we'll ask the winners for their addresses. We will not retain any details from entrants.

Keep your eyes peeled for Edge 206, out on 3rd August, which contains an in-depth preview of the game. Thanks to Warner Bros for helping out with the prizes.

How exactly does one send you a message on this thing?

I wondered that too. I'm still trying to work out how to get into the cage without it dropping the star in the water though..

Sadly I cannot think of anything as I don't have the game to try out.
