This will be a list of bugs or functionality which is missing.
1) My username is seemingly to long, it tucks itself behind the speech bubble of a post.
2) Nobody - I mean nobody likes the blue bars where you can flag a post.
3) Generally the pages are too bright
4) Noone likes that it feels like a blog with comments not a forum. This is probably due to the initial post staying at the top even after the first page.
5) Massive gaps all over the screen/page. Feels very bloggy because of the narrow text boxes and bright ads on the right.
6) Lack of functionality (yes we were warned but i'll leave it on here for new people to see its being addressed). Functions being things like easy html links so you dont have to know what the tags are for bold - or in this case strong.
7) We would like skip to last page functionality.
8) Skip to pages etc at the top and bottom of the page.
9) Skip from thread to other forum (like on the old on in the bottom right)
10) Mark all threads read (i've not noticed that yet)
11) Changing the formatting of the writing on everything. Make the usernames stand out more from the other text. Dont make the thread titles so massive and bold.. just tone everything down a bit and stop making it look like funhouse.
12) Sticky threads
13) A search function
14) Smaller text everywhere, lets get more information into this space.
15) Who's watching/reading the thread
16) Spoiler function!!
17) Ability to deactivate/disable the blue bar at the bottom.
18) Sort out functionality and layout for mobile platforms
19) Email notifications for new posts
20) "Probably mentioned but I'm scrolling faster than the page can load and the "flash back to top of page" whenever it finishes loading is doing my head in. Like wise the flash down, then up, after pressing Submit on a comment/post". This is also happening to me too.

The length of your username is the only thing that isn't the forum's fault :)

Contribute! Not being able to edit posts once someone has replied is epic fail too. Also these ads all the way down the page (as opposed to the smaller ones on the old forum) are going to make it much harder to view at work. As will all these fucking blue bars.
Why will it be harder to view at work? Monochrome screens?
At least you haven't had to change your web browser to make it work. I'll pm you Alex once I've tested further and found out exactly what it's doing wrong
Please make it more subtle. And why can't we post even jpgs now?
Please kill me now.

Harder to view at work, I presume, becuase it screams LOOK AT ME BRIGHT COLOURS I'M NOT WORK SOMEONE'S BROWSING TEH INTERTUBES.

Contribute!Cross post from the old forum:
Weadre wrote:It's not really a forum is it? It's just blog comment
That was my feeling *exactly* - nail on the head.
1) The limited horizontal space
2) The very visually disparate first post in the thread - looking very much like a blog post that all subsequent posts are comments on
3) The thick blue "flag as ..." bar underneath each post and the fixed avatar _ info vertical height making the gap between the text of posts really very large
4) The "speech bubble" coming from avatars (except for the first post, where the avatar is simply next to the text)
All makes it feel like we have been relegated from a "forum" to a comments thread. :-(
Above and beyond the colour and layout, I particularly don't like the "ooh look, the words are coming from my avatar's mouth, isn't that cute ah-hyuk-hyuk-hyuk" idea. That can get to fuck.
Having that blue bar with just "Flag As Offensive" under each post really sets the wrong tone as well - if this will be added to with a karma / upvote/downvote system, then fine (I guess), but having something so visually distracting just for that single flag option is insulting - might as well make it bright, blood red and have the option "You are all fucking children and not a single post you make can be trusted"
If the new forum/website is off-the-shelf blog/comment/forum software, then please enable more of the options - especially any user-customisation.
If it's custom website/software, then please punch whoever made it for you in the cock.
Yeah, and it doing *THAT* to paragraphs.
goddamnit.
[Edit] Fixed em - it only mangles copy & pasted paragraphs, so you have to go back in and add all the carriage returns in again :-/
Allow bears and blums
Quoting please
Lose the blues
Exactly my thoughts Elm
Do some work Maria
Thinking the same djchump, kinda worrying so far
Also where the fuck have my line breaks gone, now it really does look as if I can't punctuate correctly, cunts
- Lack of quoting makes it ridiculous for a pretty busy forum such as this.
- It's a bit stupid that it's all speech bubbles.
- It looks shit.
- It is shit.

its harder cocko because everything is so brilightly coloured (including the static advertisements). I'm +1 with weadre.
Do you really dislike the blue so much?
It is a bit too blue and bright.
My main problem with it is that it doesn't feel like a forum at all, and just that we're commenting on an article.

My feedback:
Having username, date and time all the same font size/ formatting is horrible. Username should always be able to be read at a glance.
The post formatting doesn't work. Aside from the spectacularyly bad way off paragraphing, I can't use spellchecker in firefox orget my browser menu when I right click
It's not a fucking forum. Seriously guys, this is an insult. Just sit down as an office and compare the two forums and if you genuineley beleive it's good then all kill yourselves.
I don't like doing it, because I feel it's disrepectful to the owners of the site, but I've had to install and enable adblock.
No way I can cope with so much of the screen flashing and moving at me. Went for a long time without it on the old forum, but Duke had to get Nuked - sorry Ian.
Also - if we're logging requests; can we get some "jump to page" links along the top as well as at the bottom of each page? Just along the bottom will be a bit unmanageable as threads grow - although the "4 New" etc. link for the thread from the forum main page will help jump to the latest, so it's not a major problem.
More problematic is the blue ;-)
Please, please, please customisable colours!
Yes, the blue is horrid.
The lack of quotes is a massive massive error
Stickys best be coming back soon
"Do you really dislike the blue so much?"
Yes, I'm afraid I do. Scrolling the page is like a strobing effect with whitebambluebamwhitebamblue. Needs a bit of breathing space between posts like the old signature space used to. Going from black on white then white on blue in mangling my eyes.
Sorry Ian but the blue is physically hurting my eyes. That and the huge expanses of white space. It's just too lurid. It's not conducive to long periods of browsing, like the gentler greys of the old one.
Ian, I'm sorry, it's not just the blue. The whole look is ridiculous. Edge used to pride itself as being the mature gamers choice. This look is the opposite. This website makes my hobby look like the childish, ADHD-fest my parents think it is.
I'm honestly amazed any of you thought it was a good idea to launch this.
I don't hate the blue, but fundamentally, it's not a forum, is it? It's even telling me to "add my comment," not add a post. It's a blog thing with "forum" pasted on it.

Contribute! In fact, when I imagine the blue as the old forum's deep red, it immediately looks 3000 times more mature, as adkm suggests.

Contribute! The problem I have with the blue is because it's so bright and visually-distracting, it distracts from the text of each post and thus makes it harder to read what people are saying.
It's an okay colour for the box outlines around each post, but the thick blue bar underneath really has to be desaturated out towards grey - e.g. the kind of grey that shows around this box that I'm typing in here, or the old forum grey ;-) - otherwise it will always be clamouring for attention and making it harder to read each person's post.
Which, let's face it, is the most important function of any forum/comments thread - being able to read the text efficiently - *not* being able to easily locate the "I find this post offensive and need to make it known!"
Also, as mentioned further up the page, the formatting of usernames and whatnot on the left is a mess. I don't have an especially long username but it's still too long to squeeze into the tiny space allowed it. Yet, there is a huge expanse of empty white space on the RHS of the browser window. I guess this is one of the many problems with a forum that's simply integrated into the main body of the website. Couldn't the new forum be a reskinned (albeit slightly less blue) version of the old one, that's linked from the main site?
The blue is terrible. Really terrible.
Is there any way of posting images?
+ 1 for pretty much all the above. But to list them anyway...
The blue is horrible, far too bright. Why use such a high contrast? I can still see horizonal lines when I look away from the monitor! The posts are too narrow because of the Ads (That no one probably sees anyway becuase of adblockers). The font is too big. There are no proper forum functions: Quote, Pictures etc.
I know that redesigns are not usually popular, but I am actually failing miserably to find anything that is an improvement over the old forum.
@igor I don't think so, with the comments made that we all needed to sign up again for legal reasons.
But couldn't you just all fork out for phpBB and stick that somewhere?
We all live here now. Come to The Bear & Badger!
Contribute!Don't like the blue at all, like so many others. Looking forward to the day this will turn into (hopefully) a normal forum again. You know, with threads filled with posts, not blog comments. Rest of the site is ok though, never used that so much.
Also, I can't preview my post before submitting it, other than with HTML tags. I'd like to know how it's going to look.
Edit: Just realised, the HTML thing isn't a preview - it just shows you that after it's already submitted. I guess a lot of people, including me, have been hitting submit again, hence all the double posts.
