Just been handed down a 32" Philips HD tv.
It doesn't like my Sky+ HD box. I keep getting a 'Video format not supported' message. I'm using an HDMI to HDMI lead from Sky and I've tried: -
Using a different lead
Following both manufacturers instructions for setting it up.
Playing with the Sky output settings.
Using the in-built Digital Channel scanning thing.
The closest I've got is when the sky box is first turned on. It shows a Sky logo, then goes black. Then when its booted up and I turn it on, it gives the 'Video format not supported' message again.
From Googling, it looks like it might be that the tv doesn't like HDCP - I think this is the encryption Sky uses.
The Sky box is a newer one that doesn't have component output.
Has anyone got any ideas? I might try and get a HDMI to component lead from Amazon for a fiver. Other than that, the only other thing I can think of is getting a Sky engineer out.
Edit: I've also updated the tv software.
The whats going on with my tv thread

It was always a long shot. I got no joy from the Sky forums either.
HD inputs work for everything else. Apparently this can be a problem with old Philips tvs and the only solution is to get a new tele.
Knackers.
Have you tried AV Forums? They usually come up with the goods if you ask nicely.
Just given that a go cheers. Don't hold out much hope though.
Was looking forward to HD football grumble grumble
From what you say it does sound like the HDCP is the reason.
I like HDCP as it sounds like an evil corporation in Robocop land.
