Please unsticky.
Sorry, I don't want to have anything more to do with raising money via this place. Please continue to make donations via Oli's thread.
Skerret has the Spreadshirt logins and if he wants to take it up can do.
I'll look into Just Giving refunding the two donations we had, or I'll refund direct, or they can just continue to go direct to Alder Hey.
If anyone does want to raise money in the future be aware you'll be accused of only doing it for attention and don't even think about remembering public information and using it to question someone on their charitable generosity claims.
Used to be good here, now it's mostly shit. Glad I didn't bother re-entering my avatar.

24 hr marathon in aid of Child's Play 2011
IMPORTANT!
Please make any donations direct to Oli in this thread.
Please disregard the Just Giving information later in this thread.
Proposed date, Friday the 9th or Saturday the 10th December.
More details to follow.
To the two people that donated via Just Giving already I'm going to go and see if your donation can be refunded, if not I'll pay what you paid into Oli's fund out of my pocket.
------- Original OP ----
Idea for Child's Play 2011
Proposal:
I will play the four worst games ever made (nominated by the forum) for 24 hours straight. You will sponsor me for doing this. 25p, 50p or £1 per hour gives a nice reasonable amount.
People are of course free to not sponsor me and just make a donation, or not give anything and just offer words of en/discouragement.
I will set up a webcam stream so you can watch my progress/slide into insanity live and check I'm actually doing it. Proposed date, Dec 3rd.
Rules and Restrictions:
Each game will be played for 6 hours
I have pretty much every console made to hand (except the Wii)
The games must be fairly readily available. There's no point raising cash if I have to spend £30 getting a cart from eBay.
I'll play for 24 hours no sleep but obviously need toilet breaks as and when.
Sound like fun? I'm sure some of you will be up for a bit of revenge.

Can we create a playlist that you have to listen to while doing it?
Who decides the game?
I think those who make a donation before a certain time are entered into a draw, and they then pick their worst ever game for you to play.
...Possibly, it may have to be turned down whilst the rest of the house tries to get some sleep.
I figured people would just suggest here and the four that get the most requests get picked.
I assume you're thinking along the lines of Superman 64, et al, rather than deliberately bad games like that Penn and Teller thing?
Do we get a bonus cash payment if you die?
Yes please. I'm not even sure I could get that Penn and Teller thing, unless it was emulated.
Also, Load Ready Run do that and whilst I'm nicking their idea I draw the line at the same game as well.
If I die the missus gets 1/4 of a million. I shall leave instructions to give 10% to Child's Play should that happen.
Now we're talking. What games could kill Mod? All for a good cause of course.
Rise of The Robots! :)
A couple of possible game suggestions:
Takeshi no Chōsenjō (would have to be emulation).
Whatever the game was that received the only ever Edge 1.
Rock Band III, drums, expert level.
Kingdom Hearts
Heavy Rain
I am never playing Heavy Rain again.
Also, I realise that we already have the Anthology for peeps to buy and there's always the T-Shirt shop with £1 per order. I also realise that money is tight across the board for everyone so am not expecting large amounts to be chucked it, I just thought it would be something a bit different rather than just putting the cap out like previous years.
That's Kabuki Warriors. Only thing is it never came out in Europe so Mod would need to have some way of playing American Xbox games.
That's the problem. The worst Xbox 360 game according to Metacritic is Yaris and that never came out here either.
Could you emulate ET for the Atari 2600?
Yup.
I could get the cart and shove it in my 2600 assuming the dust devils haven't claimed its life since putting it on the shelf.
24hours of Little Big Planet.

I knew this was a bad idea.
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust is meant to be one of the worst titles of this generation and that came out over here. Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) springs to mind as well.

Maybe we just need to pick four games that all revolve around having to repeatedly hammer one button, like Rez, and see how long it takes for Mod's thumb to fall off.
Billy Hatcher*. Don't actually play it, just sit through the title music on an endless loop. That'll show everyone who said it had a redeeming feature.
Failing that, Dead Or Alive on the BBC Micro. It's not bad as such, but sufficiently frustrating as to be a worse experience over a sustained period. If you've managed to go more than 15 minutes without hitting Break you're probably in line for a sainthood.
* No, I can't let it lie. Even here.
Rise of the robots.
24 hours of Kinect Adventures.
Bank Panic on the Master System.
Ooh, also F-16 Fighter, also Master System.
Awesome idea, Mod. May I suggest rigging yourself up to the mains and allowing us viewers the ability to give you "a little jolt," you know, just in case you fall asleep.
Anyway, I'm in for a £1 an hour.
