Yes.

Yossarian's picture

Actually, having a quick look at that gamertag list, it might be worth starting a new one. Dubs isn't DDubs47 any more, and many of the names on that list aren't even around any more.

If you are starting from scratch, keep me on it with my GT.

Duplication posts were for splitting up the sections. I thought that much was obvious.

Well done Oli. The last thread was epic and seems like this one will be too :)

Let's keep it sexy people...

Oh. It appears there is a severe restriction on character limits when posting.

I wonder if we could use the spoiler tag for keeping things a little tidier; for example:

presume this is a mix of free to air and subscription?

Mod74's picture

Well the BBC is all free. Sky is all pay (except for Sky News). LoveFilm is a subscription.

Who knows about ITV, C4, C5 and the other ones I've never heard of.

isanbard's picture

Since I thought with no real announcements to dat ewe'd be getting stiffed compared to the US completely. They seem to have at least banged out some contracts then. IPlayer can't go behind a paywall here can it? Crackle? Blinkbox? They're not quite household names here yet....

This quote is oddly... odd..

"Crackle was created in the summer of 2007, basing our operations out of Sony Pictures Entertainment’s studio lot in Los Angeles, CA."

I'm guessing they aren't totally affiliated with Sony still then...

Hah! Now what's been mis-sold!?

Pause's picture

Well done to MS for finally seeing the sense in allowing access to these channels, especially the free ones, to Silver members (or whatever the current name is), even if they are just a sweetener for the paid services. I guess in the UK a lot of people will be particularly happy about the BBC being on there. I'll still usually be watching iPlayer on the Wii though, for the simple reason that it uses a lot less power. One of the few advantages of it being so, well, underpowered.

(If that seems odd to some of you, let me add that I'm on a meter, and I can easily see the difference in power usage on weekends where I've been using the Xbox a fair bit; whereas an evening with Mario Galaxy makes no noticeable impression on the bills whatsoever. It's not something I'd bother thinking about when deciding what to play, but if all I'm after is sticking the telly on then to me it's a no-brainer.)

Though funnily enough, by the same token I think it means the 360 is now the logical choice over the PS3 for the other channels, all else being equal. But it's not as if I've looked at this stuff in detail; I might have that completely wrong.

n0face's picture

I have a ghosting of the image when I play my xbox. I'm using a non branded vga lead, I have read that using the official lead solves the problem but the cable run to my telly is 5 metres so the xbox branded lead won't be long enough. Any ideas how to solve this? I've considered using shielded cat5 to replace the lead and keeping the plugs, not sure if this will work and don't want to make it worse.

Mod74's picture

Using cheap or thin or just plain broken VGA leads or extenders is notorious for producing ghosting. As is running them through a KVM switch.

My suggestion is to buy the official cable and then use the female to female adapater that comes with it to add a good quality 3m/5m extender to it.

You don't need to spend a fortune, the "normal" range maplin/belkin ones should be fine. Distance shouldn't really be an issue, I've used 30m+ ones at conferences without producing ghosting, it's the interference and nastyness in connections that causes the problem.

n0face's picture

OK, I'll give that ago. Seems an easier solution then hacking leads up.

Scotswahey's picture

Ladies and Gentlemen I have Xbox live for 1 month because thats all I was willing to pay for. It cost me in total £1 thanks to a deal and if you would like to shoot me in the face my user name is SC0TSWAHEY with a number 0 in place of the o.

Yossarian's picture

You got Halo, Scots?

Scotswahey's picture

No not yet but I probably should get it at some point. The only online game I've really got just now is COD 4. Had a go last night. There seems to be a lot more annoying english kids on live than on psn. My killing skills remain intact thankfully.
