Do you think the perception of games as a serious art form has developed in any substancial way since the ancient times of 2005 when people communicated using hieroglyphics and cans connected with string? A few high-profile figures like Charlie Brooker are happy to heap praises on gaming but has it made any difference among the filthy plebs who infest our fair streets? Do you think the medium of gaming has more right to claim itself to be art than it did in 2005, or is that time still yet to come?

I think games probably have less claim to call themselves art nowadays than in perhaps the 90's or 80's. They are art in the same way a McDonalds billboard is art - it may have art in it but you wouldn't put it in a gallery.

If game creation was a solo effort and a medium through which the individual makes a statement about the world they perceive themselves to be in then maybe. However games are games.
How about SOME games are different to OTHER games and SOME can lay claim to being more of an artistic endeavour than OTHER games, all of it is art, a cock scrawled on a toilet is art, its just not very good art. Why do you lump every game together? Do you lump every film together?
