Mod's FAQ
• Joining existing players:
(note buttons relate to 360 version)
General:
Go in to game, select Multiplayer>Server Browser
Press RB to get to the Friends tab and identify which game being played matches the map/game mode you noted earlier. There might only be one server listed here but if there's 2+ you need to know which game to join*.
*360 Specific:
Open the Mini Guide (Xbox button) and press Y to sort by status. Mentally note which friends are playing together using status text, e.g. Caspian Conquest.
Press Y to join game. You'll either join or join a queue. At this point you'll probably want to drop in to the voice Party chat if you haven't already.
Sit and wait for a space to come up.
In Game:
From spawn screen Press Y to see existing squads and who is in what. Press up on the D-pad to navigate existing squads. If you've asked the game to put you in a squad on the loading screen you'll either be lucky and be in a squad with a friend already or you'll have to Leave Squad and join the one you want to. If the Squads are full you can ask over voice if anyone wants to move then everyone needs to Leave Squad and decide which empty squad space to join. From this screen you can also try to change sides but it might not let you if numbers are too lopsided or "server would become unbalanced"
• Squad Specialisations (Perks).
If you're in a squad with a level 23 or higher they have access to Squad Specialisations. On the squad list (bottom left) you'll see an extra icon next to their name showing what Specialisation they have (e.g. Sprint). If they've selected this you don't need to select it as well as it's granted across the whole squad.
e.g. If you usually use Sprint but someone in the squad has Squad Sprint selected you can select a different Specialisation on the spawn screen and enjoy two perks.
When you do get access to Squad Specialisations obviously you want to be selecting a different perk to the ones already in play.
If all four members of the squad select different Squad Specialisations you'll have 4 buffs added.
• Adding Friends
Joining the Platoon doesn't add entries to the Battlefeed you see in game. You need to manually click on each persons name in the Platoon Members list and click the Add Friend button next to their name. Or, if they've already sent you a Friend Request the button changes to Accept.
In addition, simply clicking Add Friend won't get them in your feed, they have to accept the request on their end.
As a small shortcut if you click on the Com Center button on the browser footer tool-bar (assuming you've installed the browser plug-in) any Friend Requests you have waiting to accept can be accepted by clicking on the tick next to the name.
There doesn't seem to be a way to add people en masse. Maybe you can with Origin installed but I haven't bothered with it.
In summary, the entries in the Battlefeed in game are not your Xbox/PSN Friends, nor Platoon members, only the people you've Friended within Battlelog.

"EA's aim is to take the Call of Duty crown"
No chance.
...Even though it will be a far, far superior game.
It wont take the 'crown', yes even though it will be a better game, that's because you have to use tactics and work as a team to achieve objectives, rather than spawn, twitch, die, spawn, twitch, die...
And that's what 13 year olds like to do, it fills their 20 second attentions spans perfectly...over and over.
Gamertag: sgt pantyfire PSN: pantyfire Wii: What's yours?...Yeh thought so.
I just hope they get the balance of the jets right (i.e. little or no anti-air counter measures)
For me, it took the crown back when BF:Modern Combat was released at the same time as CoD2. DICE's superiority has simply become ever greater as the years have rolled by. I fired up Bad Company 1 the other day, after getting thoroughly peeved with BlOps, and despite the graphical difference, BC1 pooed all over the much newer CoD for sheer fun.
I kind of like BF more as the underappreciated runner-up... makes it more special. And that keeps the horde of pre-pubescents away too...
There are already a fair amount of people playing BC2 that don't have the foggiest what they're doing, Live parties and the squad system let you avoid the worst cases.
The hype and the graphics are going to bring the masses to BF3, just not enough to topple COD from the charts. Bringing new players on board smoothly is going to be one of Dice's biggest challenges.

The only thing I really want from BF3 are proper lobby options that allow us to set up teams as we like and bring them into games. 4 per squad is fine but we need to be able to get everybody into some kind of lobby first.
Really hoping that if kids migrate over to BF, that they learn to fucking play properly. As mentioned above, too many players didn't have a clue what they were doing and were playing objective based games as deathmatch.
The amount of people that either didn't use or didn't know how to use the 'spot' function in BFBC2 was ridiculous.
I can see this going the way of many non-COD FPS's, whereby it has a massive first month uptake, with clueless Wookies everywhere, followed by gradually stabilising player numbers as the CODophiles trade it in because it doesn't have dual-weilding antique shotguns or remote control carbombs. Here's hoping.
I want the ability to shoot down helicopters with SOME reliabilty. That is all.
I'd be happy with BFBC2 player numbers for this if I'm being honest. Never failed to get into a game even though I only started playing at the start of 2011 - it's the matchmaking and as Kow suggested, the lobby system, that needs looking at.
But if it does go crazy and the numbers swell to CoD proportions, well...nicely played DICE/EA
@Tempy I've been playing BFBC2 for over a year and I still don't know how to take out a helicopter...

@Vastik Most fun way is using the UAV, once you have the secondary machine gun unlocked. Most skillful way is shooting the pilot with a sniper rifle, or hitting it with a tracer then a couple of RPGs. AA guns are too underpowered though.
If you go it alone then chopper downing can be frustrating, particularly if you get lumped in with tarded randoms. Otherwise, equipping the tracer dart, getting a tag, switching to RPG/Carl Gustav and getting a lock and hit is usually the way as small arms fire doesn't work. The aforementioned dart and RPG works better with a squad of likeminded, as it's usually a quicker, smoother process.
Unfortunately in BC2, a skilled pilot with chaff sits at the top of the food chain, hopefully with jets in BF3 this shouldn't be a problem, just so long as there is a reliable AA solution for these.

i think i'll love this game
and yes i hope they'll make helicopters easier to kill!
vastik, the lil mounted rocket launchers can kill em, or one of the classes can shoot a tracer dart at one that allows rpgs to be guided to it

I like what they did with Vietnam - LMGs can make quick work of choppers.
Remember that game we had a few weeks ago? The rest of the opposing team was pretty dire but they had an amazing chopper pilot who basically won the game single-handedly. Not so good.
They needed to find a middle ground between Vietnam and Vanilla. Letting medics damage the chopper with the LMG would have evened things out.

Ah yeah, the good old tracer dart/RPG combo.
Never thought of using the UAV's secondary weapon, normally have the long range scope enabled for vehicles...
I've flown a few copters in my time, didn't know there was a chaff button... no wonder I never flew for long... :-/

The UAV secondary fire against choppers is fun, they usually don't know where the hell it is coming from, as you are quite a bit more nimble than they are.
If the team itself gets its act together and fires everything at a chopper they can be taken out very quickly but some times, yes, you get one of those chopper god-like pilots that basically ruin that round.
The Russian anti aircraft gun is utter dross, the vulcan style US one kicks ass though.
I hope there will be more AA around in BF3 and hopefully jets will be a counter for choppers...but what will be the counter for the jets?

Team Death Match confirmed, probably a good thing.
Can't get excited about Battle Log, EA/Dice are pretty atrocious at that stuff.
