So this hasn't made the jump yet, so thread go!
Dunno if anyone else heard but the press build of this got leaked today. It's the first 3rd of the game or so. I've played it and it's excellent. It's more streamlined than the original but still has that amazing atmosphere. Elements of Mass Effect and Crysis 2 are there fo sho (loved both personally)
Can't really comment on the visuals proper as it's giving my pc a stroke but it all seems pretty solid.
Very exited for the full game.

Linky? Screenshots? Vids? Oh yeah sorry, can't barely do a paragraph on here, but yeah, this game is looking interesting. Bit worried about combat upclose from clips. Looks a little shonky but the multiple paths through levels look genuinely interesting for once.
I'll look forward to giving it a shot as the original was arguably one of the greatest games the world has ever seen.
We'll see.
I've been playing the first one on Steam.
The second one is awful.
The second game is a hate crime, This new one'll make your knackers tingle.
trying not to expect too much from it since it just might be the easiest title in history to fuck up completely..
if they succeed to "port" it (the first one of course, the second i keep suppressed deep deep down, it hurt me too much, actually i deny it's existence) to current generation, we might have a new standard.. a new deus ex!!
fingers crossed, patience to avoid "leaked builds" holding, open mind emulation on..
Can't wait for DX 3 to be released. Been re-playing Deus Ex GOTY on steam and its still got it.
n.b. DX2 isn't as bad as people say, just nothing compared to the original.
I've been playing this a bit recently - I really, really like certain aspects of it.

Its so obvious they're ripping so much from Blade Runner - especially the first time you enter your apartment.
I'm not too sure how I feel about the actual 'game' though. It feels very late 90's in its approach - which is no bad thing, but it certainly reeks of a very specific type of game that doesn't get made any more.
I sometimes think the game is too clever for me - of that recent games have dumbed my senses. I play a mixture of stealth and action - but I find both ways have their issues and thus often, critical thinking is needed.
There are certain areas in the opening parts of the game where one can access half the level only to find that you don't have the required augs to proceed - so you have to backtrack and go the action route. I have no real issue with this, but it does hurt a little to have stealthed through half a level only to find you need to be able to punch through a wall to proceed.
But yeah - liking it.
How long is the game?
I haven't played this for ages because I'm at a boss so every time I think about starting it up, I end up doing something else instead.
Took me about 20-25 hours.

I played the game stealth but never found areas blocked off, If you don't have enough augs to hack there is usually a vent or a way to sneak past the guards. It can take a lot of patience though.
I like this game alot, but it's harder than He-Man.
In the wake of the gentle breeze presented by Portal 2's single player 'challenge', this is no bad thing.
Thing is, I got my copy 2nd hand for 20 beans, two weeks ago.
That's quite telling...
edit - You can post videos up in this bitch now? o_0
Siick!

I found it easier on hard myself, my first run through on normal let me know what to expect. So on hard near the end i just got the robots and turrents to kill everything, and the grenade launcher for the bosses with the remote explosives. job was a good un
two play through's for the platinum, you don't need no where near all your upgrade's as well
I enjoyed it but towards the end of the second run through i was getting pretty bored of it myself, anyone try'd the dlc yet?
This is taking a back seat to Dark Souls at the minute, but I'm at the bit where you get to run through Detroit for the first time.
A mate traded it in at Game yesterday he got £8 for it!!!!!
It now £18 new on amazon, what is it with games with no mutiplayer they drop like a stone in price so quickly.
People return them a lot once they beat them.
I've only managed to play an hour or so, but I'm not seeing a game of the year contender in this at all.
It feels very old for some reason. I think it's the stealth mechanics.
I'll give it a fair go over the weekend, hopefully it improves when I unlock some fancy abilities.
By the way I'd like to know why I'm trying to assault a building containing around twelve goons with about ten bullets for my revolver.
Agreed on the aged feeling one gets while playing.
I honestly think it's the Blade Runner aesthetics.they don't make games/films/tv like this anymore so maybe that's why?
I don't think it's a bad thing though.
FOLKS
IT HAS BEGUN
About to get a loan of this. Any advice on the most fun way to play, stealth or shooty shooty? I fancy being a ninja but I've heard about annoying boss battles. Are said battles even more annoying as a wimpy sneak fairy?
Do both?
Stealth when you can - shoot when you need to?
Yeah, I found it most fun to improvise as the situation dictates.
Bosses are irritating, but their areas always have guns and grenades lying around if you've not got anything on you. Probably worth keeping a good weapon on you and powering it up even if you're not using it elsewhere anyway though. If you're struggling just keep saving every time you do some damage and survive - it's cheap but it's what they deserve.
Quick question about this, do enemies that you have knocked out ever wake up again? At the min I can't see what advantage killing them (and making noise) has?
I'll probably mix it up then. Sounds good. Looking forward to playing this.
They can be revived by other guards. If you're knocking them out, it's useful to drag the bodies away and stuff them in a vent, if necessary.
Ah that makes sense cheers
Edit: quote came out wierd
Silenced 10mm will destroy the wall in 11 shots depending how levelled up it is
your mouth a little tomato sauce
Not too impressed with this so far it really does have a late '90s vibe to it but having just come off the horribly dated Metal Gear Solid 4 it's feel it not a welcome one. I'm still only about 3 hours in so here is hoping things start to improve, I just get the feeling that this would have been better off in the third person rather than in the first.
I agree but I'm actually enjoying the slightly retro PC game feel to it. Probably because I gave up PC gaming about 9 years ago in favour of consoles because I couldn't afford to constatly upgrade when I first moved out and have not played anything similar on consoles since. (Hope that makes sense)
I'm just raiding apartments at the min (funny how nobody is ever home) and working on the first side quests. Hoped to spend some time with it today, but got tied up helping family and I'm at work now :-(
It does indeed get much better after the first few hours. The opening sections are the worst, mainly due to the fact that you don't have any augmentations. From the police station on the game hits it's stride, and it's a joy to play.
For me, the dated feeling comes from a variety of gameplay mechanics, not the atmosphere at all as I love the Blade Runner vibe running through it, and a Google pointed out when you first enter your apartment it's a real nerdgasm moment.
The mechanics that give off that dated whiff are the cover and aiming controls from Rainbow 6: Vegas, the clunky jumping which would benefit from some Battlefield 3/Brink/Mirrors Edge style hurdling and ledge grabbing, and the wooden characters that with poor facial animation and some pretty poor voice work.
The early sections are also spoiled by the feeling that you're not as powerful as you feel you should be. Is it really too much to ask of Jensen to throw more than one punch a minute? Anyway, none of these gripes have prevented me from enjoying the game so far, I've even managed to top the first boss without too much hassle.
Might grab this but worried about the 25hour investment.
