So, Obsidian are considering a Kickstarter project and are asking what people would like to see.
I'd absolutely love to see a second Planescape game but appreciate there might be licencing issues with that. Obsidian are one of the best devs out there when it comes to narrative, though the tech guys seem to struggle with making anything work properly, so something which lets them flex their creative muscle with a minimum of technical fuss is surely the way to go.

Another kickstarter, heh? Planescape 1 was what?
It's hard to decide if I really want Planescape 2. Yes it had a great overarching narrative, beautiful hand drawn art and a fantastic cast of characters (plus Sigil is a fantastic setting)but It was barely a game to start with since the gameplay itself was so fucking terrible and was just a vehicle to get from one plot point to another. I'd rather if Obsidian had a kick starter they'd make original IP.
Or if they MUST license, do a game based on the Bas-Lag world in China Mieville's books.
I remember Chris Avellone a few years back saying PS:T's plot is highly overated and people should really read more books.

Face, Planescape: Torment was an isometric RPG made by Black Isle Studios back in 1999. It's widely regarded as having some of the best writing of any game to date and is arguably one of the greatest RPGs of all time. It's based on the Planescape D&D setting, the game beginning in Sigil, a city at the center of the multiverse with hidden doors leading to all manner of abyssal planes and the like. You're an immortal with no memory and the game is, loosely, about figuring out why the hell you can't die.
A strange comment to make, I think. AND THE GAMEPLAY WAS PERFECTLY ADEQUATE.
I'd be happy with a new IP or a new Planescape game. I doubt they'd pay for the license in this instance though.
I've got PS:T kicking about somewhere. I vaguely remember saying I'd sell it to someone from OldEdge back in the day but then I started playing it again and thought 'What the hell is this game about again?' so I kept it.

How was the "gameplay" terrible, might I ask? Pretty standard fare for Infinity Engine games as I recall, albeit weighted more towards dialogue and less towards thumping people.
EDIT: Genuine question. Also, how do you define gameplay?
Weighted with ten tonnes. The combat was just immensely boring, slowest on the engine, you have several magnitudes less customisation and options in a strategic sense with your party than in the other Infinity engine games and just fucking sort it out guys, seriously. At least in BG 2 and IWD you had plenty of pretty effects going on screen at once. Even with Nameless One as a mage you were fairly limited to the amount of spells you cast before you go in and auto attack things to death with your whole party. It's like playing with a whole party of monks in BG 2 but at least then you could make people explode at will.
PS:T would have been better as a point and click game.
