Although I am excited there are 2 large elephants in the room known as Yun & Yang. Are the twins about to ruin our beloved game? You could suggest time may tell. However the arcade edition has been out in the wild for some time now and the salty tears of those who have no reversal for divekick pressure are long dry.

Now a number of us Edge forumites meet once a month (well until our host Nick planned to move out. Ah good times) to test our mettle under tournament conditions. Yes we're all friends but the spirit of competition is strong. There's pride and a trophy to fight for! We're awaiting our 11 tournament now.

SSF4 users who don't upgrade to AE can't play against the new characters, but they get the increased search functionality of the replay system. They can also watch Arcade Edition matches.
How does that work? You don't get to choose a character until you're both in a lobby? I've never considered this before.
Matty, that was Yoshi Ono saying AE would never see a release. He trolls the beat em up community hard. Take everything that man says with a liberal sprinkling of salt.
I'm not sure this update is worth it yet. Super introduced four new characters but they were very different to each other. Now we've essentially been given Evil Ryu and Oni look to be different enough and generally not seen as overpowered enough to recieve any flack despite their obvious character design. (ooooh Ryu went evil and Oni became even more of a lunatic) The twins however are just that. Sure they won't play exactly the same but for a lot of the uninitated such as myself I see them as a two for one. Maybe that's while I feel sllightly shortchanged.
Then again I am forgetting the whole game was rebalanced. If I wasn't hearing horror stories of Yun and Yang being overpowered I'd probably have more hype.

As far as AE goes, if you have Super just get the dlc, it's a lot cheaper and less painful. As ever there's a good amount of us online (360) each night and we're always up for getting folk back into the game.

As far as Yun goes I quite like the idea of a goliath character entering the ring. It will make the horrible matchup wins all that more Yomi focused and rewarding.

True I cherish the Mak buffs but to add insult to injury I quite enjoyed the few hours I spent with Yun. See how it goes.

The twins won't be a problem for us mere mortals I don't think. Personally speaking Genei-Jin requires a level of execution that's a bazillion miles beyond me - in 3S I think my record is two hits, probably both overheads - and my laughable attempt to get Fei up to C taught me that I can't combo into rekkas for the life of me.
I worry that top 8s at tournaments will be chock full of twins, but then I watched UFGT7 at the weekend, three of the top 8 were playing Rufus, and I didn't mind too much about that (though Floe's was terrible). And at least Daigo's Yun will be new and interesting - I'm sick of the sight of his Ryu.
The main impact will likely be eight matches out of every ten being Evil Ryu players rather than the Ryus they are at the moment, and IIRC he has the same health as Akuma. So, you know, good times.

I'm sure it'll be a flood for the first day or so, before that measly health and technique requirement comes in to play. I don't think that Yun's main OP issue is just the Genei Jin though. The dive kick is god like, his great command normals, super safe specials and the fact he can land it all of a crouching jab makes him beastly. (Daigo saw which way the wind was blowing!)
Time will tell I guess, all I know is that rush down and dive kicks will be king in AE and my Rose will be eating a lot of plimsole. :(
I'm feeling lucky, a buddy of mine gets the disc version for free with some flemish magazine subscription. Since he has terrible taste, he doesn't like SF, so he's giving it to me for free. Yaaay.
