Yeah, yeah, I get it - you can only have a big enough userbase on PC/Mac, the Platform Owner wants too big a slice of the wedge and the graphics would suffer... but c'mon, isn't there a way to make it happen?
Didn't one of the Final Fantasies have PC players playing along with PS2 users happily in a state of Nirvana? Couldn't it work that way?
Couldn't Xbox Live make a few (cosmetic) differences to make some aspect exlusive? Aren't topend graphics on a console, you know, good... enough? I tolerate potato-headed people in Fallout because the game makes it worthwhile, am I a heathern for saying I don't care if some spod with a 3-grand PC tower can see the goosebumbs on some valkyrie's cleavage?
Dammit, I want to play MMOs but I'm not sitting out in the office room playing it on this thing. If I'm to be orc-slaying I'll do it from my sofa or not at all.
Why can't I have a decent MMO on my 360?

because, life, sometimes, just isn't fair..
actually.. i wonder about this myself.. not that i yearn momos on the console.. just seems like too much of a cash cow potential not to exist at all.. especially on the xbox..
also the virtual non existence of the likes of MAG is mysterious to me..
the only "reason" that i see is that the business model is in a transition from the traditional subscription toward the free to play slash micro transaction, and taking into account the half decade development cycles, potential products are rather kept on standby than put out there.. also, i see a hole in the most likely to push (the "big" player) 's market research in this uncharted area, which results in the lack of initiative.. titles like DC online might change that, since once a title is proven feasible, the competition shall automatically answer..
till then.. mouse and keyboard it is..
a little off topic, but sort of fits..
what are your thoughts on the CCP's efforts on connecting a (very) traditional pc mmo and a consol fps??
I been wanting a good MMO for the 360 for a long time. :( I settled for DCU.
i would love a decent MMO on 360. Perhaps we should organise a rally through trafalgar square? Yes PS2 players could play final fantasy 11 online with PC players, it was great that game. Not even tried the new one, love my sofa too much.
There is one mate. It's the one you mentioned, Final Fantasy XI. Cross platform on PC, PS2 and 360. It's probably the only one you'll ever get.
Really?
Will investigate...
As Dante says...
Looking at both XI and XIV at the mo. I know the later got slammed on release but what's the skinny now, guys? Would it be possible to get into XI now?
Personally, I just don't think your typical MMO would seem at home on console, being to my mind very much a 'pc-thing'. They're just too fiddly and the mechanics too floaty. I'd be far more interested in MMOs if they played like 'proper' games. I think they were aiming for that in APB, and we know how that turned out. Maybe the tech just aint there yet?
Bungie's new effort is some sort of MMO, or so the rumours suggest. Chances are it will be far more console friendly than something like WOW.
Jaimie, as mentioned previously, FFXI is on 2 consoles, and plays very well on them. It's incredibly easy to make a console MMO.
Cinty, XI is possible to get into now, providing that you know someone playing. Otherwise, you'd have to be very determined to like it. That said, if you can get a linkshell whilst in the Dunes, you'd probably be fine, as the linkshell would be more than happy to help you out. Both me and Ayns would be more than happy to help you out mind.
As far as XIV goes, it's free to play, and you can get the game for peanuts if you shop around. So I'd definately say it's worth picking up. It's only going to get better.
I know this sounds weird, but I want an mmo on a console that allows me to solo. I don't want to come on and wait for friends to come on before I can do certain things. A WOW type game with perhaps raid ops and an auction house would be awesome. Perhaps with the next console.
lol £4.36 for Final Fantasy XIV from Tesco. And it's free to play? Sold!
You've been had.
@OP
I think, quite simply, it's because of the cost of Live Gold that stops some people bringing their MMOs over to the 360. The MMO developers want the game to be open to people who have a silver account, not just a Gold account, and MS don't like that.
Also, it's because MS doesn't want a dicrepency between your Live name and an online name. So if you are in an MMO, you will be called by your Live handle. This is the reason that the Eve FPS isn't coming to 360, as Sony just let's them do whatever they want and don't care, whereas MS have set rules about things.
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...

Which seems stupid because if a good MMO hits PS3 i won't need to pay my live gold subscription anymore.
