Is it out of loyalty for so many years? Is it because of its dry humor? Is it because you trust their reviews? If someone never touched an EDGE magazine before how would you sell someone on it?

This. Websites pump out so much shit so fast, having a monthly magazine that has to think about what content it puts in means (in the case of EDGE, at least) that you get a decent read. With websites' deluge of content, I end up picking out just the stuff I'm interested in, and miss a lot of the under the radar stuff. It's thanks to EDGE that I got Kuru Kuru Kururin and Denki Blocks, for example.
However, with the move to the antipodes, I've cancelled my subscription after 9 or more years. I might check out overseas subscription costs in the new year, or have a look at that Zinio thingy.
I like the feeling of intellectual and cultural superiority I get when I whip out the latest issue on the train infront of lesser British citizens reading the Metro or some other tabloid.
I prefer Edge's writing (style) to other mags, although the only other 'mature' games journslism publication to come close is GamesTM, and even that is rubbish. And over the years I have found that I have tended to agree with most of their reviews on games I have played. I go by Edge reviews more than anything else when deciding whether to purchase a game.

Without getting all wanky Brian Sewell over Edge, it is a beautifully designed mag, especially since the redesign (some front cover font issues apart). With the huge hikes in production costs, it's one of only 2 publications (The Saturday Guardian as well) that for me really seem to justify the cost.

I don't anymore as I cancelled my sub a couple of days ago. After reading, and really enjoying, the article on GTA I realised that apart from the odd review of a game I'll have already purchased I don't really read that much of it so I figured the money I spend on it would be better spent on an extra game each year...
Anywho, Edge takes gaming seriously and is a lot of fun to read if you're an intellectual, pop-cultural giant, or someone who's really into games, like me.

Edge should include those programs in old magazines that you had to type in yourself. It'd be awesome, except the programs wouldn't be written in BASIC and they'd be over 6Gb long, and after 4 years of typing they wouldn't run because you'd made over 2,000,000 typing errors.

I read it because the target demographic seems to be adults that don't want to feel ashamed for enjoying one of the most enriching forms of entertainment. It's nice to relate to and share in other peoples experiences too, with this forum (despite not being a very prolific poster) being a fundamental part of of that. I can honestly also say that if I'm unsure about a purchase, Edge is the only trusted source of objective opinion.

It sits snugly beside the toilet.
Habit. I do trust their reviews though, although I wish they'd put a few more in.
Bring back Test Screen round up.

I don't read EDGE.
I should cancel my subscription as I hardly read it anymore.
It's not you, Edge, it's me.

Didn't Elm find a sneaky way around the cost of subscribing overseas?
Elm's a sneaky crook, though. He's off cheating those nice people in Vegas out of their money as we speak.
I get 12 issues of EDGE for like 80 bucks here in the US. Better than what Amazon is offering.

Because there is no real alternative if I want to read stuff about games written by people who know stuff about games.
Go in WHSmith. What are there, two multiformat games mags, plus Gamesmaster which I'm clearly too old for, and a retro mag or two.
And yet there are about a billion mags devoted to knitting and/or crochet.
Online stuff is okay, I guess, but I know and trust Edge.

To be perfectly fair, I don't consider my hobby anywhere near as productive as either of those.

OK then.
Just as well I was joking.

Some of my games are beginning to be surrounded by a culture, for sho'. Am thinking the spores in my living room are not a good thing.
It's OK. Protein.
