So it is now called the Wii U.
Here's kind of a decent master article with everything known about the console so far -

Basically -
HD
Tablet controller like an iPad
Switch on the fly between tv and controller
3rd Party Support coming.
PSN / 360 Name - regmcfly
Steam - martinhollis

Yup, probably. .
Didn't like the Wii but if Cafe brings Ninty back into the game then i'm all for it. Funky £150 stupid-controller an' all.
They had me at HD Galaxy 3.
I do like the Wii, but only for about 7 or so games I truly love.... Cafe is sounding really interesting, I'm mostly loving the rumour about it being shaped like a modern SNES! Obviously this is bollcks but it still makes me smile.
I have no idea, at this stage, how they are planning to make the console reasonably priced with the pad supposedly having this HD screen in it. Unless they are going all out and pricing it at PS3 launch levels....can't see that happening after the huge consumer base they have just created.
Although....if they get a third of the Wii sales at say £350, then it would be very healthy for them.
I'm falling apart to songs about hips and hearts...

Soooo....
According to some industry types on the Twitter, Nintendo's Press Conference is 'the one' to watch out for. Apparently it's going for the whizz bang of the Microsoft fabled one of '09 (KINECT! MCCARTNEY! MILO! Starr.)
It has been too long sine I was able to be a proper Ninty fanboy.
That last link in the OP has no mention of the controller beyond speculation. Poor show, Reg. You really dropped the ball there.
I see what you're doing. And I rise to it.
I DO NOT WANT ANOTHER WII. ARE YOU LISTENING NINTENDO??
I think Miyamoto just saw the bat-signal.
The Wii isn't all that bad is it? It's the horrible amount of shit games and gash ads with Brown and Keck that chaffs my balls, if they just kill Ant and Deck, then surely goodness will return no Nintardland?
I'd say there's maybe 15-20 must own / play Wii games. For a 5 year console, that's pretty low inni?
Quality, not quantity.
But yeah, basically. I still don't understand why 3rd party devs never seem to deliver. Although it could be because the shovelware sells, so why fucking bother?
You've pretty much nailed it.
Ya fair point Reg, I'd actually say a bit lower! Maybe 10 for me? Thing is, Mario Galaxy 2 is prob my most loved game of this gen, so they sort of keep me sweet! And yeah, I don't get that either Workid?
So fair enough, most Wii's are owned by middle age people who like Wii fit, but surely if there are so friggin many of the bastards in peoples houses, surely there should by some kind of default, be more good games getting sold, even by accident!?
This is most definitely not being marketed as a Wii, I think. Maybe that's a bit too much, but I think it's true.
Latest rumour is a 6 inch touch screen on the controller. Perhaps it's going to be the equivalent of 2 Gamecubes and a DS taped together.
Just got Mario Galaxy 2 for cheap, drooling at the thought of an HD Mario game.
Mario Galaxy 2 is friggin wonderful. Currently getting the last 20 or so green stars, pure evil some of them!
Two gamecubes together would run Tony Hawk 3 DOUBLY GOOD.
Airport level!

Am dissapoint. I was hoping Project Cafe was some sort of barista simulator and you had to make expensive coffee and use the wiimote to create those fern like shapes in the froth.
It does sound a bit like some of the rumours go against Nintendo's long standing philosophy of simple, cheap fun. HD touchscreens in controllers just sound too expensive, a smaller non 1080p touchscreen I can believe, but it's not going to be a standalone ipad thing when the console is actually off.
Given the rumours of the controller I can only assume that Nintendo will incorporate the same technology as Kinect and the new controller is merely an addition to this.
It's just going to be another gimmick innit. You'll be playing Mario with a fucking bouncing mushroom betwen your thumbs, you'll be playing mariokart with a map, Zelda with an inventory, F-zero with a speedometer. Big wup.
What's wrong with that? F-Zero boost button WIN
Is it enough to separate cafe from the other beasts that will be lumbering into our homes, Homes? The touch screen controller rumour was around before the wii i think. Ninty are in danger of making a competatively powerful machine for THIS generation with a bit of something different about it. Will that pan out in the long run? Also: cafe? Meeting, greeting, relaxing. Are Nintendo finally embracing tinternet?
Well, they need to. If they're finally aiming for the core again then decent online is a must now, surely?
Wonder if we'll see any COD announcements or the like?
I'm envisioning this controller to be perfect for Colonial Marines. Ping!
Guns, drugs, hookers and no pants.
Yes, like it!
On-line will be difficult for Nintendo. It needs to be as good as Live, but they probably can't get away for charging for it.
Live / PSN : bigiain_______ Team Awesome
My Wii rarely gets turned on and is a distant third behind the PS3, which is a distant 2nd from the 360.
However this does look interesting and could pique my interest in ninty again.
If it is backward compatible, that's a huge plus and would encourage me to buy one, particularly if it upscales the image.
It would also mean that I will go and seek out Mario Galaxy 2, still not played it and know I really should.
Bottom line, I'm an early adopter and will end up Pre-ordering one.
I read about the controller being able to store games as well as have content streamed to it and turning it into a portable as well as static console.
Another Nintendo revolution? I wouldn't be surprised.
Yeah, there are rumours of the pad doubling as a hand-held. Sounds plausible, I guess, but where does that leave the 3DS?
Looking forward to the announcement now.
