I'm starting a Witcher 2 thread for love of the game, so! I love this game, pretty, involving, and it seems i'm just on the edge of starting Act 3, so it seems my time with it is coming to a close.. until my next playthrough!

I loved the first one, but the amount of bugs made it nearly unplayable. How is 2 in this respect?
I havent touched it since the big burning thing in act 1. I spent a good 10 hours on the thing over a couple of days, and it burned me out. I heard they released a 9GB patch. Eugh.
Nah, it was a 15mb patch. Steam was the problem.
ah, cool. I will check it out then.

i hear they ironed out a lot of the bad stuff in witcher enhanced edition and the second game has definitely improved in terms of a staqrting product, ive hard of people having problems with bugs in it but ive hardly had a hitch in the whole umpteen hours ive spent with it so far, which is good going, and they seem to be very keen to get it patched up with it up to 1.2 very soon (if not already) - its quite different in some regards however so its hard to expect it to be exactly the witcher you know, but i think it's an improvement in every conceivable way, its a fantastic game, imo

Cheers Gunn, I'll probably grab this through Steam then for the auto-patching.
Steam is where it's been fucked with the patching. Buy it on disc or get it direct from GOG

Thanks google, this happened recently with Shogun on Steam and was a real pain.
I really want to play this, but I've had it for a week but not started yet as my graphics card, which runs Crysis 2 on Very High, struggles with it even on low settings. The new card I ordered came with a borked fan so now I've got to wait another week for a replacement. I did make one of my papercrafts though, fiddly little things they are.
regarding this game, there is a lot of rumours flying about saying it's going to appear on the 360 in november. the only thing confusing about this as that i thought it was already confirmed? 360 gamer magazine had a preview on it last month...
That's what Eurogamer are saying.
I'm quite interested in this news. I've no hope of playing this on my laptop and the work that's apparently been put into having a fleshed out morality system and "consequences" (ooOOooh!) and shizzle like that fair tickles my curiosity gland.
(Apologies if/when this formats horrifically but the WYSIWYG buttons have currently vanished and without a preview button I'm not experimenting with html.)
Edit: Ah, the old-skool Preview method. Or the Edit button as it's currently known.
I'd like to play this on my laptop but am a little concerned by the performance side of things.
Does this have a continuation storyline using a previous save file, like say Mass Effect 1 and 2 do?
If not then I'll hold out for the console
I'll have to wait for the 360 release as my little old macbook is weeping at the thought of the specs required for this.
@Shinji
Yes, you can use a Witcher 1 save file. Some of the actions continue through to this.
But from what I've seen, it doesnt really matter a lot.
I'm playing this on my laptop - but my laptop rocks!
edge review is up

I'm not interested in the game in the least - just thought I'd point it out. :)
@Wookienopants
Has Witcher 2 been confirmed-confirmed for consoles, or confirmed like Witcher 1 was 'confirmed'...?
@Jude - it's been as confirmed as, "we've made an engine that works well with 360's, so we'll do it if we can make money"
They would need to avoid 11.11.11 like the plague then. Not sure they can get it done before then... 2012 it is then.
@Google, cheers. I'm fairly sure my laptop can play it. Only got it 3 months ago but these damn specs mean nothing to me.
Confirmed for 360 today, though no sign of a PS3 version.

@shinji, it's fairly well optimised so that you'll get a decent experience even with limited hardware.
Patch 1.2 is out soon. All current DLC is now available for free and combat fixes are promised too. Still no 16:10 support though :(
But hey, at least the "Islamic–themed textures have been deleted and/or replaced"....WTF?!

finished the bugger \o/ was great stuff, not sure about criticisms of the end other than theres very little to do in act 3 away from the path thats been created for you by then with your decisions, some really nice moments in the end, certainly you can see theres a lot more story to tell and certainly you can see how the scale of the game will ramp up in hopefully inevitable sequels
great stuff
im gonna try do other stuff for a while but the game definitely begs another playthrough, even near the end there are decisions that can significantly affect the outcome

Eurogamer 360 Review
Out next week. Surprisingly low levels of hype round here.
Live / PSN : bigiain_______ Team Awesome
Picked up a copy of Witcher from GOG in anticipation as the series had gone past me. If it's any better than number 1 then I'll be sticking it on my Lovefilm sharpish. I'm game..
I'll probably pick them both up for the PC in time... i'll be drowning in the next few months with these and Diablo 3 and probably Torchlight 2.
I did certainly get accustomed to having the full PC keyboard and mouse controls avialable. Not too sure how well that would translate to just a pad. Will have to read these reviews.
