Animation Technical Director – Amiqus

China
Location: Shanghai, China,
Salary: Open + Benefits + Relocation


Responsibilities:

-    Think up new ideas to suggest to the 3D graphic artist regarding graphic styles or production techniques for characters and actors
-    Understand the requirements and constraints of game design, engine and platform
-    Use animation packages such as Maya, 3D Studio Max and/or proprietary software to animate 3D characters and environment objects
-    Develop animation assets that fulfill the requirements of the project’s game design and visual design as documented by specifications, style guides, and appropriate reference material
-    Communicate with 3D graphic artist in improving modeling
-    Put the animation into engine
-    Establish and enforce the team’s production pipeline within the standard of studio and project
-    Participate in the elaboration, maintain and update of the specifications list and the tools that will be used by the team in the project
-    Participate in the elaboration of the project planning
-    Establish clear, project-specific roles for all team members; Allocate and convey tasks as well as expectation to team members with the consideration of employee self development needs
-    Organize, implement the project production plan as agreed with Producer/AP with self and team commitment in terms of quality, efficiency and continuous improvement
-    Provide team members with any needed support such as direction, guidance and assistance; Supervise and stimulate team members to verify the team’s progress and quality
-    Organize and coordinate the resolving of major technical problem of his discipline
-    Ensure that the other members involved in the project have all the necessary information
-    Evaluate team members’ project performance
-    Buildup a good work environment within team
-    Support studio manager in recruitment, training, evaluation, team building, knowledge sharing, and motivating, etc. in his/her team
-    Initiate and participate in the knowledge sharing, problem solving, and technology research with other team leaders within and/ or across projects/ disciplines; provide as much on-the-job training as possible if time/task allows to all team members

Requirements:

-    Good sense of motion; deep understanding of animation principles as demonstrated by a strong portfolio
-    Have a firm foundation in the traditional 2D cell character animation process
-    Traditional animation and drawing: Tuning, weighting and conveying emotion
-    Expressions and blend-shapes; forward and inverse kinematics
-    Background in one and more of the following specialties: bipeds, quadrupeds, or cinematic
-    Ability to use, or aptitude and willing to learn 3D character animation packages such as 3D Studio Max
-    Good knowledge of game development engine
