Looking for an opportunity to relocate to sunny Australia and work for one of the best studio's out there?
 
We are looking a new position open for a Lead Character Artist to join our team. The Lead Character Artist is responsible for partnering with the Art Director to ensure their vision is realised. By directing the Character team, the Lead Artist sets the schedules, assigns creative responsibility and sets visual quality standards/policy for all character related art design of the game as well as all technical and aesthetic considerations for the project’s final result.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
 
•Looks after the production process to enable iterations
•Establishing and driving the creative process for creating high quality assets
•Continually reviews art teams work to ensure quality and design requirements are achieved. 
•Develops schedules and assigns responsibilities to art team.
•Directs artists in the vision, general style, modeling, texture, and lighting of characters required for the game
•Leads the art team by coaching, mentoring and performance managing.
•Sets standards for visual quality and polish.
•Collaborates with Design and Programming to ensure design requirements can be achieved artistically and technically.
•Responsible for the output of the external art team by ensuring quality standards and artistic vision is realised.
•Identifies and solves technical art problems through research and development activities
•Collaborates with other team leads, proactively defines problems and provides solutions regarding next-gen capability issues before the get into the art development phase.
•All other tasks not specifically mentioned here but which may be required of you in order to perform your role.
 
 
What We are looking for:
 
Qualifications:
•Undergraduate degree, or distinguished college coursework in relevant fields, or proven portfolio of industry experience Minimum five years experience in Game Industry
•Minimum two game titles completed, one title as a Lead Artist
•Expertise in Adobe Photoshop
•Expertise in 3D Software
•Combination 2D/3D skills
Key Attributes:
•Strong next gen character tech knowledge
•Strong anatomy and sculpting skills
•Understanding of all technical aspects and requirements of game creation
•Strong abilities in character lighting, texturing, colour concept comps, and photorealistic rendering methods
•Good people management skills and experience managing a large team of artists.
•Has a positive attitude, collaborates and communicates effectively with others
