Contact: adnan.rafiq@amiqus.comThe Lead Designer is responsible for leading a team of designers in producing a game design that allows the vision of the game’s Creative Director to be realised. As the Lead Designer you will oversee the detailed game design and ensure that the game design is planned, documented and tracked effectively; and instigate and manage design processes which ensure that game design development is both efficient and creative. You will need to exhibit passion and enthusiasm enough to inspire your team and to carry through the creative vision of the game for the Creative Director.
The Lead Designer is accountable to the project manager and creative director.
Responsibilities: • Managing the game design team: task planning, allocation and tracking; and personnel management.
• To ensure that design tasks produce work that supports the design foundations.
• To direct and aid the game designers with their design work, and to ensure that the game design documentation is maintained.
• To design elements of the game as required.
• Inter- and intra-departmental liaison to include meetings, play throughs etc.
• Responsibility for the team’s on-going learning and development.
Key Skills and Experience Required: • Ability to direct a game design team.
• An understanding of effective design processes and modern game design theory.
• Proficiency in game design at both the macro level and the micro level.
• An understanding of game mechanics, progression and presentation, and how individual design choices can affect the overall feel of the game.
• Effective and inspiring communication of game design elements to all development staff.
• Strong leadership ability.
• Ability to innovate and solve problems.
• Ability to communicate effectively with creative, technical and non-technical parties, both verbally and in writing.
• Ability to organise own work, and the work of others.
• Pro-active and self-motivated.
• Enthusiasm for computer games.
