The role : Online systems Lead Programmer

FreeStyleGames are looking for an experienced online programmer, to take a technology leadership and management role working on online code for next-generation cross-platform games development.
As a senior online programmer you will be responsible for maintaining core elements of our networking core libraries, designing and revising module designs, and co-ordinating overall game-agnostic technology architecture and development.
The senior online programmer will be responsible for task specification and management of a number of additional programmers working on online code development.
The senior online programmer will work with the Technical Director and Lead Programmers to ensure that core technology development supports the current game project requirements.

Key requirements:

  • At least 5 years games development experience.
  • At least 3 published titles working in a senior role.
  • At least 3 years of network systems development.
  • Cross-platform development experience is essential.
  • Mastery of core C++ language features, and good knowledge of more advanced C++ programming techniques.
  • Knowledge of game console hardware.
  • Understanding of multi-core programming issues, and multi-threaded development experience.
  • Strong API design, implementation & documentation skills, including knowledge of design patterns and unit testing.
  • Experience in leading a technical team, including management of team tasks and scheduling tasks.
  •  Excellent communicator – both written & oral. Able to engage and motivate the programming team.
  • Familiar with contemporary software engineering practices, such as version control, scripting languages, build processes, automation.

Additional beneficial skills: 
 

  • C# / .NET / MFC / wxWidgets / Python
  •  Published titles on Xbox 360 / PS3 / Wii.
  • Experience working with / developing DLC systems & in-game shops.
  •  Experience developing / working with game networking systems which interface with 3rd party servers.
