E247: Platinum-grade action meets tactical espionage in Metal Gear Rising

What happens when two of Japan’s finest studios – one renowned for its purebred action games and the other for story and tactical depth – join forces? That’s the question issue 247 of Edge, out October 25, sets out to answer as we go hands-on with Platinum Games and Kojima Productions’ collaboration Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.

We also look at the big-budget invasion of free-to-play as the payment model reaches a watershed moment, and case Wii U’s launch lineup and GamePad. We speak to Chris Roberts about his return to development and visit London’s new indie gaming event the Wild Rumpus. The Raid director Huw Gareth Evans, meanwhile, enthuses about his love of Street Fighter II.
