E-Commerce group The Hut has acquired the online brand of fallen UK retailer Zavvi.

The Hut's new Zavvi shopping portal will extend its product catalogue beyond games, music and film; now offering electrical, computing, perfume and lingerie goods as well. The team have also decided to offer free delivery as standard.

The brand acquisition and website relaunch will create 100 new jobs, according to MCV.

“Zavvi is a major player in entertainment retail, both in the UK and Ireland,” says Hut Group CEO Matthew Moulding.

“Our aim is to capitalise on this well recognised high street brand and transform the business into a leading class online retailer, not only in entertainment, but also across lifestyle products.”

Zavvi‭ – ‬once the UK's largest independent retailer of games,‭ ‬music and film goods‭ – ‬fell into administration on Christmas Eve last year.‭ ‬The company had finally closed the last its stores on Feb 20.

but to be fair, their prices were way too much compared to HMV and GAME

if their the same price range as Play.com I might consider using them

GAME? Really? I haven’t been in a GAME shop since I bought my 360. It’s all about play.com. Though having said that, I haven’t bought a game since I signed up with lovefilm.com.
