Microsoft has snapped up the services of former Motorola marketing boss Jeremy Dale.

Dale will take on the role as Microsoft’s new EMEA vice president of retail sales and marketing for its Entertainment and Devices Division. He will oversee sales and marketing of the Windows and Xbox brands across the region.

“I think we are living in really exciting times at the moment,” says Dale. “We are seeing cool, life-enhancing experiences being delivered across devices and formats.

“As I spent time with the team at Microsoft it became very clear to me that this company is on a path to bridge the three screens that consumers use everyday – PC, mobile phone and TV – and I can’t think of any company in the world who is better positioned to deliver that full integrated experience to consumers than Microsoft,” he adds.

Dale has an eclectic scope of brands in his CV, ranging from ITV Digital to Orange to Nintendo UK. Where he once oversaw the Pokemon franchise’s invasion into the UK, later he would sign David Beckham as product ambassador for Motorola’s Razr brand.

"We are thrilled to have Jeremy join our team and look forward to having his expertise expand the reach of Microsoft products and strengthen the Microsoft brand throughout EMEA," says Mitch Koch, corporate VP in Redmond.

I personally hope he's more like Jeff Bell. No marketing person could do awkward and inadvertently hilarity like he could. But then again most people don't put down that they have a "life long passion for consumer brand marketing" in the interests/hobbies section of their bio.

Hope he gets into a bigger role the way Peter Moore or Jay Allard, that was truly a great campaign team, probably one of the best right there with Tom Kalinske from Sega's golden age with the genesis and Reggie and Iwata from Nintendo.
