Sony has announced that a new Ratchet and Clank title will be released for the Playstation 3 this Autumn.

The popular series remains exclusive IP for SCE, and one that has the potential to reach to a broader audience than, say, a mature-rated FPS.

The title – known as Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time – will be developed by Insomniac Games, the studio responsible for both the Resistance games as well as Ratchet & Clank Future: Tools of Destruction.

As Sony points out, A Crack in Time will be Insomniac’s fourth full release for the console. A solid release date was not announced.

i loved R&C:ToD. very excited for the sequel. was there any mention of multiplayer?

this generation of HD consoles needs more platformers! such a shooter-heavy generation...

What's it play like? I'm sorry to say I've never tried it as it seemed pretty garbage...

3D platforming with lots of items/weapons of diverse use that sometimes gives a little touch of "action adventure" but neither to complicated nor enough to overshadow the platforming type gameplay.
Hope that defines it for you as they are pretty nice games, and thay always reach the greatest hits category, so you can wait for bargain prices of a great series :)

It's just good old colourful, platforming fun! Lots of cool weapons to try, which get upgraded the more enemies you kill with them, there's some side quests. lots of secrets. lots of fun!

I would recommend Tools of Destruction for any PS3 owner!

Well, Resistance was dire on so many levels I didn't have much faith, this may well be worth a rental or a bargain buy.

R&C:ToD is a lot of of fun. don't judge it based on the resistance series, which was insomniac's first attempt at first-person shooters. they've been doing ratchet and clank for a long time and this kind of action-platformer is their core competency.

if the demo is still available, download that and give it a shot.

R&C is a truly great series. Maybe naughty dog can give us a new jak too?

jacobpbarker's picture

Well they've announced it, but jesus, why on the PSP and PS2 only!?

Seems like Naughty Dog just dumps their franchises once they jump to the next gen so i doubt that this will never happen.

And as a matter of fact although i wolud like a new platformer from these guys, i really like their aproach in creating new and great IPs every time. Maybe a new platformer but totally new and not a sequel.

R&C:ToD was such a fun game to play and the first game I played and completed on the PS3. Epic.
