Activision has confirmed the appointment of Dan Rosensweig as CEO and president of the Guitar Hero label.
Rosensweig will run the Guitar Hero business from Activision’s offices in Silicon Valley, overseeing Guitar Hero's global operations including game development, hardware manufacturing, supply chain, logistics and marketing.
Rosensweig will report directly to Mike Griffith, president and CEO of Activision Publishing. Meanwhile, the former president and CEO of the Guitar Hero business division, Kai Huang, will now work under Rosensweig.
Rosensweig has a history with Activision’s current CEO Bobby Kotick., once serving as the COO at Yahoo during a time when Bobby Kotick was part of the group’s board, though their proximity ended in 2006 when Rosensweig left the firm to pursue a career with the equity firm, Quadrangle Group.
"I had the great pleasure of working with Dan during his tenure at Yahoo," says Kotick. "Dan has a rare combination of deep business expertise, entrepreneurial instincts and an incredible passion for music. We are looking forward to leveraging his proven online experience to build upon the billions of hours of entertainment we deliver each year in the Guitar Hero network."
Rosensweig says that Guitar Hero still has incredible growth potential, stating that he will "look forward to continuing to develop Guitar Hero into an even more successful enterprise."
