2008 Austin GDC Breaks Attendance Record

The sixth annual Austin Game Developers Conference broke event gate figures by attracting more than 3,000 attendees earlier this month, representing an eleven percent increase over 2007’s event attendance.

Dedicated to connected games, game audio and writing for games, this year’s Austin GDC saw the successful introduction of the Independent Games Showcase and the Worlds in Motion Summit, and the return of the Game Career Seminar.

“Seeing the amount of energy, enthusiasm, and satisfaction from everyone over the three days is proof that the conference has indeed evolved and won,” said conference director Izora De Lillard. “We’ll again take a look at the feedback from this year’s event to continue to create a community of learning, networking, and inspiration for the 2009 Austin Game Developers Conference.”

The next Austin GDC will take place at the Austin Convention Center from September 14-18, 2009.
