The latest Top Global Markets report from sales trackers the NPD Group, GfK Chart-Track and Enterbrain has revealed the top five selling games of 2009 across the US, UK and Japan, the world’s three largest games markets.
Activision’s Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the top seller, moving 11.86 million units in total (US: 8.82m / UK: 2.80m / J: 237.5K).
Nintendo titles took the next four places, with Wii Sports Resort placing second after racking up 7.57 million sales (US: 4.54m / UK: 1.49m / J: 1.54m).
New Super Mario Bros. Wii was third with 7.41 million copies sold (US: 4.23m / UK: 687.3K / J: 2.49m).
Wii Fit Plus placed fourth with 5.8 million units sold (US: 3.53m / UK: 968.3K / J: 1.30m), while the original Wii Fit took fifth with 5.44 million sales (US: 5.44m / UK: 1.25m / J: 588.3K).
The Top Global Markets report also revealed that combined software unit sales fell by eight per cent across the three markets last year.
