Take-Two has announced plans to enter the fiercely competitive football genre with All-Pro Football 2K8.
Developed and published by 2K Sports, the game will release just before the opening of next year’s season. The 2K brand currently publishes baseball, hockey and basketball games. Football has been more problematic due to EA’s exclusive tie-up of the NFL and NCAA licenses.
However, publishers have sought to stay in the lucrative football market with titles like Midway’s Blitz: The League, which circumvents licensing issues. 2K will have to find a way around using real team and real players, though it’s not known, as yet, what play the company will make.
