Numerous reports have emerged claiming that new shipments of 360 hardware will come with an updated motherboard said to be far less susceptible to RRoD than previous iterations.
Microsoft has told Edge that it cannot comment on issues regarding internal redesigns for the console, so this remains speculation, yet reports – along with pictures of the new console’s innards – are making convincing suggestions that the new hardware features 65 nanometer AMD GPUs (as opposed to the 90nm components featured in the console’s first edition), as well as a 150w power brick.
It is said that these additions will allow for a cooler system which would, in theory, greatly reduce or eliminate the chances of the notorious RRoD system failure. VentureBeat’s Dean Takahashi said that "the graphics chip will likely consume less power than previous versions, allowing it to fit snugly into its motherboard socket. That should lead to fewer system failures due to the graphics chips coming loose."
There are also suggestions that the newest versions of the console comes with 256MB of on-board flash memory which, if true, could happily store the 128MB of space needed to hold NXE without the use of a hard-drive or memory stick; a system which would be an ideal addition for Arcade versions of the console.
Though the new motherboard – codenamed Jasper – is believed to be in circulation in the US, it is not known if such versions of the console are being shipped anywhere else.
Update: Microsoft has sent through a statement, which we will leave for your own interpretaton:
"Regularly updating console components is commonplace within the industry and is a standard aspect of the business for a variety of reasons including cost reduction, improved manufacturability and improved performance. We do not provide details on these updates."
I am actually waiting until I can guarantee a new Jasper for an Elite before I get a 360. I've never ever in 15 years had a console go faulty or break on me and I don't want it to start now.
Of course its selling its cheap ppl are cheap I hear about all theses great exclusives for xbox like ps3 doesnt have any , Anyone ever play Warhawk heres a list MGS4 got a 10 , LBP 10, R2 9.5 , and many many more actually all PS3 exclusives have gotten high review scores cant say the same for xbox and many of those xbox "exclusives" are now better looking on ps3 w more features Bioshock anyone. You guys all forget Xbox had a year start released faulty hardware and has now slashed the price so yeah itll sell its the cheap console when Sony decides to cut the price thatll sell like hotcakes and if they decide to come out w a smaller version like ps1 and ps2 its over for microsoft there "winning" now but have been out for 4 shopping seasons and dont have that great of a lead over ps3. 100 mill ps2s have been sold 16 mill ps3s and 26 mill xboxs sounds like alot of ppl havent gotten a system yet and my bet theyll wait for the ps3 price cut.
rydamgw please do everyone here a favor and leave your fanboy comments on other websites. Don't waste precious space here, they are not welcome.
Higher rated games on the PS3? I'm afraid not, and not by a close margin either. Even major multiplatform releases on the 360 rate higher than its counterpart. You give your opinions, I'll provide links to the facts.
PS3 top 20 rated games: http://www.metacritic.com/games/ps3/
360 top 20 rated games: http://www.metacritic.com/games/xbox360/
A few things to note; Resistance 2 doesn't even make the top 20. So 9.5? Hardly. Also, Orange Box on the PS3 scored a whole 7 points lower than the 360 version. Also, Bioshock, Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and Fallout all scored lower on the PS3 than they did on the 360.
Oh, and if you hadn't noticed, the 360 has only dropped a total of 100 bucks off its launch price (Premium 20gig $400 at launch, premium 60 gig now $300) and it took nearly 3 years before MS dropped the price 100 bucks. How long did it take the PS3 to drop 100 bucks? Within 7 months the PS3 had a price "drop" (phasing out of launch 20 gig $499 PS3) of 100 bucks.
Both systems are now 100 bucks cheaper than they were at launch. The PS3 needs more than just a price drop (especially in the US).
If you have an emotional attachment to gaming console, to the point that criticism of such triggers some visceral defensive reaction, you need to spend some serious time examining your life. Seriously, people, the X360/PS3/Wii is a piece of metal and plastic. It should inspire nowhere near the emotion that I see in this and every other gaming forum.
That said, there are plenty of legitimate reasons why gamers would be turned off by the RRoD issue and Microsoft's continued obfuscation on the problem. Ask yourself: why can no one at Microsoft simply come out and say "Yes, we screwed up, and we did our best to fix the problem with the installed base through our warranty expansion and such. Now, these new Jasper units have a big "NO RRoD, GUARANTEED" sticker on them, so you don't have to monitor independent gaming forums for lot numbers and other subtle indicators to determine whether you're going to buy a lemon or an improved model. Sorry guys. No more bullshit, we promise." Why? Because they want to move their existing, broken inventory on an unsuspecting (hopefully, we're all now suspecting, but I don't think the average Walmart shopper even knows what a RRoD is) consumer base so as not to lose money before they completely switch the channel over to newer hardware. The mere fact that no one can definitively, without qualification, assert that the RRoD has been fixed for good is a ridiculous situation, given 3 YEARS of X360 availability.
I have refrained from purchasing an X360 until I'm assured that the problem has been fixed, which could actually be now. In the meantime, I've played many of the great games from this console's lineup on my PC, and I haven't been so overwhelmed by exclusives that I've chosen to just grin and bear whatever MS wanted to sell. Perhaps some think this reservation is some form of lunacy. Most likely these people, who would somehow not only tolerate but defend the prospect of knowingly buying flawed hardware released by a company which even now shows disdain for its customers, are the same fanboys who delight in trolling forums to disparage other platforms on religious grounds. Ok, go nuts. The rest of us can wait.
Maybe I'm misunderstanding you or you're being sarcastic, but MS DID come out and say they screwed up. They even went as far as offering a free 3 year warranty on RRoD and 1 year for anything. How is that NOT owning up?
And good for you for not getting a 360 for reliability reasons. If we're giving reasons why we don't buy systems, I'm not getting a PS3 because it is overpriced and it underdelivers in the areas I care most about (gaming/community/online). Of course that's my opinion, just like your reasons are your opinion.
edit: The only people who really even know/care about RRoD are people that already own a 360 and have had it die, 360 owners that have heard about it, or people into gaming enough to read up about it. New purchasers that aren't too familiar with gaming have no idea what RRoD is. Its time for us to truly move on past RRoD, I'm so tired or reading/hearing about it.
Do you really mean that when you state that ms has to come out and apologise ? Do you really think "any" company will be so stupid to put stickers on there boxes that prove "NO RRod , garanteed ?
YOu simply don't understand how such companies work? Why make such a stupid risk decision that only hurts more ?
Let's say i understand your point and it SHOULD be the right thing to do but ...serious , ??
Um, if you had actually read what I wrote, you would find that the very next sentence contained an explanation of why MS would _not_ do the right thing:
"Why? Because they want to move their existing, broken inventory on an unsuspecting (hopefully, we're all now suspecting, but I don't think the average Walmart shopper even knows what a RRoD is) consumer base so as not to lose money before they completely switch the channel over to newer hardware."
Do you understand this? Was this not clearly an explanation of why MS would not act responsibly with respect to its customers? Does this make you rethink your snarky and misplaced assertion that I'm somehow clueless as to how such companies work?
would you still hold the same reluctance to "jump in" if in the event of your xbox malfunctioning, the shop you bought it from replaced it with a brand new, fully sealed 360? Thats what happened to me recently, i got the RRoD and I had a new 360 within the hour. I was extra pleased about that because I withheld the HD and got a new one of those as well lol.
Im not trying to defend microsoft for crummy parts or try and lessen your valid concerns but I just find the argument hard to accept when you could be playing some more great games and have a fail safe guard against any hardware faults.
hope nobody from my local comet retail outlet reads this.
"Most likely these people, who would somehow not only tolerate but defend the prospect of knowingly buying flawed hardware released by a company which even now shows disdain for its customers, are the same fanboys who delight in trolling forums to disparage other platforms on religious grounds. Ok, go nuts. The rest of us can wait."
It may be flawed but it's still selling :D
That's exactly what my comment was saying. It's flawed but it's still selling, because many people will tolerate these flaws. I will not. I don't understand why you posted a follow-up to my entry which simply reiterated my point. Your point?
is it worth missing out on AAA quality games because it "might" break and be replaced in 6 months?
Like others here, you seem not to have actually read my posting in its entirety. I actually said that I'm enjoying many of those AAA games on my PC (eg. Mass Effect, Bioshock, COD4, GoW, etc.), so your question is moot. The other titles that appeal to me, like Fable 2 or GoW2, which will not make it to the PC, are not so numerous that I can't wait for stable hardware (and, it looks like, stable software in the case of Fable 2) in order to play them. If I didn't have a PC, yeah, maybe I'd have bitten the bullet years ago and bought a nearly-guaranteed-to-fail console. But, because I can play many of these games - and this holds for PS3 owners as well, for many titles - I'm in no bug rush. I made a perfectly clear case as to why I was waiting until the hardware issue was completely resolved; I really don't understand the vehemence with which this case is attacked here.
But the part you're not pointing out is WHY do people tolerate it? Because there are awesome games. The 360 is selling as strong as it is with this apparent reputation of having unreliable hardware but the PS3 is getting whipped (in the US anyway, worldwide it still lags behind in overral sales but enjoys a fraction of a supposed year to year lead over the 360) and it has NO apparent reputation of unreliable hardware. What does that tell you about the state of the PS3?
It’s selling because it has a large library of games, some great exclusives, and a great price. People can overlook this exaggerated nearly non-existent problem (RRoD is all but gone at this point) very easily when they have great games to play. You don't have to tolerate the 360 and neither do the 16 million PS3 owners, but the 25 million 360 owners who have purchased a 360 will continue to "tolerate" their awesome game experience. I've been tolerating my 360, awesome exclusives, and great online/network features/community/support for 3 years now and have no plans on stopping any time soon.
So, the 25 million 360 owners are all fanboys apparently? We've all had to "tolerate" our 360s cause we just don't know any better huh?
"So, the 25 million 360 owners are all fanboys apparently? We've all had to "tolerate" our 360s cause we just don't know any better huh?"
No, but folks like yourself who buy 4 units, troll forums to defend the platform, and dissemble about the issue in question (your use of the term "exaggerated nearly non-existent problem" to describe the RRoD is absurd) most definitely fit the definition of "fanboy". I made a logical, measured case for holding out on a 360 purchase until the hardware issue was completely rectified. I also argued that MS should be held accountable for their disgraceful behavior, but that they are getting away with this because most users will understandably tolerate this nonsense because the games are compelling. You responded by taking a swipe at the PS3, vomiting sales number talking points, and then claiming that I was insulting the entire user base because I chose not to share their tolerance for the RRoD. Exemplary fanboy-ism, and in no way a reasonable argument against my own.
edit:
I took out my post, I've already wasted enough time on this tired topic. I'm done.
"new shipments of 360 hardware will come with an updated motherboard said to be far less susceptible to RRoD than previous iterations"
Hmm. So not actually eliminating the problem then.
Good news for 360gamers but also for gamers in general.
Here my reply to most of the comments
You always find the same replies pro's and cons on RRod 360 topics
The game lovers and the 360haters. Rarely you find neutral comments
The lovers are the ones who are willing to forget the problems they had with there 360's. Why can they forget ? Because they find playing good games more important than the console self. Let's just face the facts here :
1/The 360 has just to many good games. Serious gamers (often multi users ) just cannot pass on the 360.
2/MS is solving the problem at no cost
I CANNOT SEE A PROBLEM HERE ??
The haters are the ones who are "imo" not open for games or hating the other good competition ,they mostly are de facto ps3 fanboys trying to demolish at whatever cost the 360.
these ppl cannot embrace the fact games on 360 are good , they are not open .... they tar on spreading negativity and hate towards a specific platform.
They even will contradict by claiming they also own a 360 .It maybe true but that don't prove anything for me.
sad ungrateful gamers they are !
It does seem odd that so many PS3 owners have such an irrational hatred of the 360, they cling to the RRoD, despite the fact that it has been fixed with hardware alterations and a three year warranty (see my post below), as if it were some sort of divine deliverance for their system. I can only assume that it is due to a deep seated feeling that all is not well in the PS3 camp, after all you don't seem to get the same hate mail directed at the PS3 from the 360 crowd, who seem on the whole content with their system.
If this is such a big problem then why are the only negative posts here from PS3 owners? Where are the slew of disgruntled 360 owners?
I have to ask PS3 fans, why the hate? No-one is forcing you to buy a 360 so isn't a bit of healthy competition for your system a good thing? I know i would hate to see Sony pull out of the games market, it would be a terrible thing for the industry and even if i don't want a PS3 i'm very glad that the Playstation brand is still out there, so why don't you feel the same about M$?
You forgot the ones who feels like completely screwed up by MS's faulty hardware, who had to sell those "good 360 games" for nothing, and who had to change platforms - and never looked back. (See my comment below.)
Sorry but your "spectator" opinion just feels arrogant. You're right in one thing though: I'm a sad gamer and I won't buy the 360 again and its successor.
Gyak,
Like he said, there aren't a lot of disgruntled 360 (ex) owners on these forums. Yes, I'm sure there are some of those people who got shafted by MS with RRoD, but I think you and the others are more of an exception than the rule. Most people I've talked to/read about that had RRoD got their system fixed in a reasonable amount of time with little to no headache. You on the other hand, not so much.
Fair enough, Nick.
However, it's not about exceptions, it's about whole countries treated like they wouldn't exist (as far as MS's customer policy goes). The question is, how could they sell their hardware in those countries in the first place, if they knew they won't be able to fix those consoles? You should see the repair shops in Budapest.
To be fair, Sony treats us the very same here. Hungary still don't have a PS Store, so you have to use fake US / Hong Kong etc. addresses to give them your money. Now that's the headache.
Ok I'll stop complaining for today. ^_^
I do have to admit that I'm not familiar with MS customer service policies for countries that aren't the US. I guess I made the assumption the policies were the same everywhere. But I also read that some European countries have 1-2 year warranties on everything so if their's broke the law required MS to replace them regardless of MS's own warranty policies. But as I said before, I don't know, thus can't say for sure.
Where is "here" if you don't mind me asking? If people from your area who had RRoD suffered the same fate you did, then it seems like it was more than a handful of people who got screwed.
"Where is "here" if you don't mind me asking?"
Sure, no problem. I live in Hungary. When you buy a 360 here you get a small card that says if anything happens call this number. Problem is, when you call the customer service, they treat you like you were some kinda criminal or just modified / opened your beloved console (you didn't of course, because of the warranty). I sold my 360 after the third "disconnected" phone call with them and never looked back. (Not that I've regret my choice, just feel sorry for the guy who happened to buy the damned thing. I presume he just went to the nearest repair shop and got it fixed.)
My point is that the distrustful attitude from MS's part is unnacceptable (at least here).
Oh and it's definitely more than a handful of people. Whenever I go to some shops to check the secondhand games, there is always someone there with a broken 360, which they'll fix eventually. As I said it before, it's a special industry here. ^^
Hungary huh? English is spoken in more places than i thought.
So they do have warranties, but their customer service leaves much to be desired it sounds like? That's too bad. I had to buy my bro-in-law a new 360 cause his got the "unreadable disc" after he had the system for over a year so it wasn't covered by the 3 year RRoD warranty. I was pissed. I told the customer service person I was going to buy a PS3 (a lie), she didn't seem to care.
It indeed sounds like more than a handful of people. Hopefully the internal modifications have helped (my 360's are a live and kickin). It seems like they have from what I've read/gathered.
So what do you play then, Wii, PS3?
edit: disregard last question, already read your post that answers my question.
@gyak
I can cope with arrogance in a sense that i maybe "under"stated that if you're real gamer you should have the 360. gamers are also very good with the ps3 or Wii alone , if there happy with it that's another story? (often ungrateful or sad ppl)
so not everyone has a budget to buy all 3 consoles. Perfectly understandable.
But then again can you question a lot of these ppl on why they always have to burn the competition in favor on what they only can afford ? Why ?
I personally don't wanna express myself on why i do not own a Wii ..let's assume it's just not for me , , but i recon that there are very good games on the Wii. Games i would like to play
It's alright, I'm good with my PS2, PS3, Dreamcast, PC, and my DS. These are my platforms of choice and I'm completely happy with them. Oh and the "arrogance" thing wasn't serious from my part.
How right you are.. Microsoft has been fairly active in investigating the RRoD from day one, I really feel for Xbox gamers who've had to send their machines back and wait patiently for new ones. Also running over clocked PC I can totally relate to the frustration of having an unstable and deteriorating platform. It's also entirely admirable for MS to extend the warrenttee based on their investigations, proving that there is a problem and their doing the best to solve it and keep their loyal customers sweet.
In my humble opinion, it would be a great shame for Microsoft to let a small thing like overheating cause long term damage to the reputation of what has grown to be an awesome console. We all know how good the Xbox360 is, it's back catalogue speaks for itself, it is vast and already formidable compared with other consoles. Although I would hope to see all consoles on a level playing field in the near future.
Microsoft needs this hardware revision as much as Sony need to drop the PS2 to allow software houses a fair chance of developing solely for PS3 and so far I think that having two console on the market is a hindrance to them, lessons should have been learnt from the psOne days in that respect. Aside form the core titles on both machines most of the big franchises will go multi platform (PC, Xbox, PS3, Wii). But those who talk their gaming seriously the Xbox360 is just as important to them as the PS3, as are the other platforms including the handhelds.
A bit of healthy competition never hurt anyone. Sony, Microsoft and Nintendo all need one another to push the console technology forward. With these three bouncing off one another, I for one am looking forward to a bright future of console gaming :D
The console is a joke. Great games, but seriously flawed hardware. In the next couple of generations people will be saying: I can't believe i put up with that bullshit.
Excusing them and saying SOONER OR LATER it'll be OK is nonsense. The system shouldn't have launched as it was.
I'll tell you what is a Joke................
But what differences does it make to you? People aren't going to stop buying XBox's because you've highlight a know problem and quoted to old news from Wiki.. Give us a break will you... whilst all this arguing over nothing is going on our xbox360 wii's and PS3's are gathering dust.. Are you just pissed that Xbox is getting more favourable press at the moment? Because it really doesn't matter. You seem be taking it all way to seriously :P
MS are dealing with the problem,.. see above.... peace out !!!
Did Microsoft drop the ball with RROD? Yes
Did Microsoft fix the problem? Yes
Has the 360 got the best games library? Yes
Did Microsoft drop the ball with RROD? Yes.
Did Microsoft fix the problem? Hardly. Three years later they're still trying. You know in Eastern EU things won't be that easy when you have a RROD'd 360. Still, they're selling their faulty hardware because people simply don't care (must be some kinda mass-psychosis), and they get their crap fixed at repair shops (for money). It's a special industry down here, talking from Budapest.
The bottom line? If you live in the US, then good for you. However, the "one phone call and I'll have my refurb in 2 weeks max" trick don't work everywhere. It's a bit ignorant and displeasing thing to defend MS's custom service from a contented fanboy high-ground, you know.
p.s. Has the 360 got the best games library? It's a subjective matter. For me definitely not the best, but who am I to judge.
This is definitely good news, I've been looking to upgrade to an Elite in the next two months, I'll have to make sure that I get one with the new mother board and on board Flash. I wonder how the internal flash memory will work, if it'll be accessible or if only system updates will be stored on it. Either way, the way I fill up my HD with DLC, any extra free space will be useful.
So that's only what? 3 years? Way to go Microsoft. perhaps next time you'll QA your hardware like you do your software before release.....oh hang on.
Playstation 3 has plenty of defects, too.
The type of defect that the Playstation 3 has often occurs as a result of Sony's firmware downloads not being properly compatible with all versions of the Playstation 3 hardware.
For example, hundreds of thousands of Playstation 3 systems experienced severe problems when Sony recently released firmware update 2.4.
The BIG difference between Sony and Microsoft is that Sony does NOT acknowledge their mistakes, and forces the consumers to pay for the shipping and repair fees.
Xbox 360 comes with a FREE 3-year warranty when you buy it, so there is absolutely no need to purchase insurance...And if you ever need to ship the item back to Microsoft for a repair that takes less than a week, you will NOT have to pay for the shipping.
Sony's outdated policies need improvement. This is one of the reasons why Sony has lost the console war this generation...Of course, the main reason is the fact that the Xbox 360 library of games is bigger, better, and less expensive in every genre.
i was wondering where you went, kim naroz went. thanks for showing up again to get people heated up over nothing.
This post is completely ridiculous. Seriously, jump off the ludicrous console bandwagon you keep sitting on. It's ridiculous enough that you come in here all the time to praise Microsoft and say how they "won this console war" or whatever when it's actually Nintendo who's "won". Who care about that?
But now you're coming in to bash the PS3 for no reason at all? This article isn't even about the PS3. The PS3 has fewer issues so saying that Microsoft gives you 3 years as if it's a better thing is really silly. The only reason Microsoft gives us 3 years is because the console has a built in hardware defect that's a chronic problem. They only extended the warranty to fix that problem, no other problem. Saying it comes back in a week is a joke. I sent my 360 in a week ago and it's still not even close to arriving. Everyone I've talked to says it takes at least 3 weeks to get it back. Hell, even the UPS guy that delivered a replacement to my cousin said, "finally got it back huh?" under the notion that he delivers 360s all the time and it takes a while.
Mine just broke after nearly 2 years of use, which is considered a pretty long life for the 360. Isn't that a bit ridiculous? 2 years is considered a long life for a console. I paid 400 dollars for this and it goes out in less than two years, which makes me not able to finish FO3 and not able to get GoW2. And once I get it back it's likely expected that I get maybe another two years out of it. Sure the 4 years was fun, but no other console of mine has died after only that amount of time. It's ridiculous. I guess in 2 years unless the next Microsoft console is backwards compatible, I'll have to shell out 100-200 dollars to replace my 360. Great. That's just poor design.
You know who has good customer service compared to Microsoft, though? Nintendo. I once sent in a DS for dead pixels and not only did they send the replacement console before I send in my DS, they do it fast. You just call them and they do it fast. Microsoft's phone system is more complex. You have to wade through 4-7 different phone options to even start it. There's a lot to be said about real customer service using people in the US compared to some voice command system. Even when I sent in a Gamecube due to hearing clicks in the system (wanted to make sure it was tip top shape before the warranty ran out), the return time was very very fast.
Anyways, please explain what Sony's outdated policy is. Isn't it just the standard year? The SAME standard year that Microsoft used before their console defect was discovered? It's a bit ridiculous to say that Microsoft should be praised for starting a 2 year extension of the warranty that only covers a specific problem that they designed into the system. It's like praising a company for recalling their product. Hell, it's even worse. At least with a recall, I get my money back or a fixed product without the defect to replace it. The replacement 360s are still susceptible to the defect.
lol Kim_Naroz "You Got Served!!!"
Europeans do not get three years, they get the two years and only because it's the law. So whatever breaks your console here, it's not your problem, not your repair costs, just bring it back to where you bought it and have it replaced. Even if the PS3 had some issues, at their worst the only thing the user/customer service had to do was to wipe the harddrive.
PS3 certainly has had a fair share of problems, however the luckier ones, myself included haven't experience many problems, certainly not long standing hardware issues. We put up with the firmware issues because we know and hope that the powers are continuing development. what else can you do?
PS3 firmware has got a so much better through its development, Actions speak louder than worlds. Sony has acknowledge major problems in the past, as have Microsoft. I don't think they need to mention every little thing as and when it happens. We(those that use the system on a daily basis) are more than aware of its short comings of both systems. if something serious arises with hardware which both companies are duty bound to replace equipment if the machines turn out to be faulty so as an end user you don't really have to worry.
You're assuming that there is a format war going on!! There really isn't.. All systems have their merits and shortcomings, but people buy them anyway, regardless of the system you are running you're more likely to be having way to much fun playing some of the best games. Than worrying about whether the Xbox or PS3 has the most sales. A few months ago both systems were being hammered in terms of number by the Wii.
Most recently the popularity of consoles have gone on the games that have been released for them, Microsoft have certainly bought up lot of exclusives and because their popularity has grown in comparison to PS3, but that aggressiveness will come back to bite them soon enough. Especially with the Japanese market just itching to get hold of those titles for PS3. We all know historically speaking that Sony's kit is slow burning as soon as the PS2 is dropped from the roster and with it the price of the PS3. I would imagine there will be a big PS3 surge.
The Warranty is only 3 years for ROoD. For other failures and problems only a 1 year warranty stands.

^^ That's all the headlines for the 360 within the article above. You'd need to be a moron to buy a 360 after reading all that.
That's a bit un fair calling people moron for wanting an Xbox360 and it's also a sweeping generalisation to tar all Xbox360 with the same brush. I know lots of people with Elites and Arcade versions of the 360 and none of them have the technical problem that you listed above and if they did they would just send them back to MS and get replacments. It's no big deal. There are cases and causes for consern but at least Microsoft have identified the problem and are doing something about it.
I am also a PS3 owner like yourself, you shouldn't feel threatened by the Xbox360's new hardware update. Embrace it. I'm just waiting to get christmas out of the way I will be getting a Xbox360 elite so that I can play with the rest of myfriends regardless of technical problems. Microsoft will alway replace the kit if you find it faulty.. It's part of the SLA..
It seems to me that 360 is already DOA when purchased and it's just a matter of time before the machine packs-in. As we all know, the 360's hardware problems are down to more than two components (CPU/GPU), it's the systems overall design.
Personally speaking i won't be buying the system, ever (or any other hardware from Microsoft)...no matter how many great games the system hosts.
The same could be said of all consumable goods. Every piece of electronics will fail at some point after you buy it. So why are we complaining about the 360?
all xbox owners are morons...all xbox's are "dead on arrival" Could you be any more of a ps3 fanboy?
{
all xbox's are "dead on arrival" Could you be any more of a ps3 fanboy

It's not fanboyism, it's just FACT i'm afraid.
You really need to think about what your writing and how your comming across. Im done arguing with you because you dont even own one. But feel free to stay on here ripping everything the xbox does so you can justify paying 3 ton for a metal gear 4 player.
Hang on a minute Miles, don't tar and feather all ps3 owners, we're not all bad :P Some of us admire the 360's pluck :D Even if it is the spawn of the Devil (Bill Gates) but even satan himself must be doing something right :D
