3DS Slide Pad Expansion confirmed

Nintendo chose not to mention the bulky 3DS add-on, outed last week by Famitsu, at its pre-TGS conference today, but has confirmed it will be released alongside Monster Hunter 3G on December 10 for ¥1,500 (£12.25). The peripheral, which adds a second circle pad and set of shoulder buttons, will require a single AAA battery. As well as Monster Hunter 3G, the Slide Pad Expansion will also be compatible with Resident Evil Revelations, Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater 3D, Ace Combat 3D Cross Rumble, Dynasty Warriors Vs, and Kingdom Hearts 3D.

That's an abomination right there.

why not?
None of the games need the expansion to play them.....and its cheap. I like choice.
I see it as a test to see if a second stick is needed for the model upgrade that will come at some point down the line.
It is kinda ugly tho.

Lots of reasons! How about the fact the console's only been out 5 minutes and the hardware is already being revised, it's a travesty to look at, will no doubt be a pain to play, and you will look like a total mong using it in public?

Nintendo have completely shat the bed for even contemplating allowing this monstrosity to see the light of day.
