Full Control, the team behind the upcoming video game adaptation of the board game Space Hulk, has signed an agreement with bitComposer to work on a new Jagged Alliance for an undisclosed platform. They plan to bring the series back to its turn-based strategy roots.
“Jagged Alliance fits perfectly into our company strategy and portfolio as the game to do after we ship Space Hulk. It is one of the 3 games besides X-Com and Fallout that really defined the entire genre and is part of our DNA”, said Full Control CEO Thomas Hentschel Lund.
The original Jagged Alliance was released in 1994, but the series didn’t come into its own until the classic Jagged Alliance 2 in 1999. However, the 2012 remake of that second game, Jagged Alliance: Back in Action, received largely negative reviews due to its dropping of the turn-based gameplay, buggy gameply, and issues with the fog of war.
Full Control seems to be aware of Back in Action’s issues, stating that they would be giving “the series a fresh new take whilst staying true to the core mechanics.”
