Activision Blizzard has revealed its fiscal third quarter results for the three month period ending September 30. The publisher reported a $51 million profit (up $15 million year-on-year), and $745 million in revenue (up $42 million year-on-year).
The performance is attributed to strong sales of Call of Duty, World Of Warcraft and StarCraft II. As a result, Activision Blizzard has raised its guidance by $145 million. This year to date, Activision Blizzard has earned $651 million (up from 2009's $399 million) in profit from revenues of $3.02 billion (up from $2.7 billion in 2009).
"For the nine months ending September 30, 2010, our digital offerings contributed close to half of our total non-GAAP net revenues and our digital revenues have increased more than 15 per cent over the prior year," says CEO Bobby Kotick. "Most importantly, we continue to deliver some of the world's best games."
Activision Blizzard raised its calendar year 2010 revenue estimate from $4.18 billion to $4.28 billion. Guidance for earnings per share was raised from 49 cents to 51 cents.
"As a result of our over-performance, we are raising our calendar year 2010 net revenue and earnings outlook." says Kotick. "We expect to deliver the most profitable year in our history with record operating margins."
