Activision subsidiary Beenox will be tripling its workforce, creating over 200 jobs for Quebec by 2009.

Beenox is mostly known for creating Mac and PC games based on established franchises and licenses. The company will be expanding its portfolio to include some of Activision’s “largest licensed properties” (i.e. movie-based and superhero titles) for next generation consoles.

Beenox will also begin a “pilot quality assurance program” in Quebec City this summer. The studio will begin by testing select Nintendo DS and PC games and will expand its efforts to include other platforms over the next two years.

Robin Kaminsky, executive VP of Activision Publishing said in a statement that Quebec has “one of the fastest growing talent pools in North America.”

Recruitment for Beenox development and QA positions is beginning immediately at www.beenox.com.
