Android Market Share On The Rise

New report shows gap closing on iOS in the US as Angry Birds heads for $1 million per month ad revenues on the platform.

Market research company comScore’s monthly smartphone report for October shows an increasing subscriber base for the Android platform.

As reported by TechCrunch, the data shows that Google’s share of smartphone subscribers increased by 6.5 per cent to 23.5 per cent overall during the period from July to October this year. By comparison, Apple’s share increased by just 0.8 per cent, though it remains in second place overall with a 24.6 per cent share of the market.

In a further sign of the strength of the Android platform, Angry Birds developer Rovio has revealed that the game is on track to earn over $1 million per month from advertising sales (the game is free to download on Android devices).
