Finnish studio Rovio says Angry Birds Space has been downloaded 50 million times within just 35 days.
That, the developer claims, makes it the fastest-growing mobile game of all time, beating its own previous records and suggesting mobile gamers agree with our Angry Birds Space review, which descibed Rovio's sequel as "considerably more ambitious than previous updates."
"We extend our deepest gratitude to all fans of Angry Birds everywhere," reads a post on Rovio's website. "While numbers like this certainly say something about the popularity of Angry Birds, for us the main goal is to keep creating fun new experiences that people can enjoy."
To that end the studio has recently released the first level pack for Angry Birds Space, which adds 10 new stages in a free update. "There's only one conclusion to draw," the post concludes. "Something even bigger is on its way!"
It's some achievement, even by Rovio's own lofty standards; Angry Birds has been downloaded over 600 million times. It took just three days for Space to pass the 10 million download mark.
