Army of Two Silver Screen-Bound

Movie-game? No--game-movie.

Electronic Arts is making good on its promise to bring more of its successful videogame properties to the big screen.

The publisher said Friday that it has inked a deal with Universal Pictures to bring March 2008's buddy-buddy action title Army of Two to theaters, with production beginning next year.

Scott Stuber has been named producer on the film along with EA, while Scott Z. Burns, co-writer of The Bourne Ultimatum, will adapt the game for the screen.

EA Montreal developed the game, which EA says grossed over $100 million in sales, based on NPD Group data.

The publisher recently announced that it would be adapting its Sims franchise for the screen in a deal with 20th Century Fox. Spore creator Will Wright has also said EA has looked into translating that property to movies and TV.

EA signed a partnership with Hollywood talent and literary agency United Talent Agency in July.
