Codemasters has become the first UK publisher to secure the top spot on the UK all formats chart since early 2007.
The company’s Ashes Cricket 2009 debuted at number one on the chart during the week ended August 8, four years after its last UK bestseller, Brian Lara International Cricket 2005.
Nintendo’s Wii Sports Resort, which has now sold around two million copies worldwide, was knocked from the top spot after two weeks of chart domination.
Wii Fit and Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10 both slipped one place to third and fourth respectively, while EA rounded off a top five full of sports and fitness titles with Fight Night Round 4.
Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince dropped two places to sixth, ahead of Ubisoft’s Call Of Juarez: Bound In Blood and Mario Kart Wii.
Disney’s film tie-in G-Force climbed 18 places to ninth following the release of the movie, while The Sims 3 fell three spots to tenth.
