Assassin’s Creed II sold 1.6 million copies worldwide in its first week of availability, according to estimates from publisher Ubisoft.
In doing so the Xbox 360 and PS3 title outpaced opening week sales of 2007’s Assassin’s Creed by 32 per cent. The original game has sold over eight million units.
“Assassin’s Creed remains the fastest selling new videogame intellectual property ever in the US,” said Ubisoft.
Earlier this week Assassin’s Creed II debuted in second place on the UK all formats chart behind Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.
A PC version of the game is due for release in the first quarter of 2010.

That's good to hear as I have this game under my x-mas tree! I also grew tired of the original after just a few missions, but felt confident based on the reviews that they addressed those problems this time.

Good see a new IP for this generation doing good sales. I want and we need much more NEW IPs....
