Ubisoft has confirmed the ongoing development of Assassin's Creed III, which is set for release on October 30.
Host platforms weren’t announced, but the game is expected to launch on Xbox 360, PS3, PC and possibly Wii U. It will be the fifth core series entry in a franchise that has sold over 30 million units since the original debuted in November 2007.
The title was announced byUbisoft CEO Yves Guillemot during a third quarter conference call with investors. He said the “fabulous” looking project has been in development for three years and that Ubisoft is investing more money in the game than it has in any other series entry to date, IGN reports.
"Assassin's Creed 3 is the true next generation of both the Assassin's Creed brand and interactive entertainment/storytelling in general," Guillemot added, according to Joystiq.
While no further details have officially been announced, CVG recently reported that the game is set to feature a new protagonist and be set during the American Revolution.
Earlier today, Ubisoft also announced a September 7 release date for Far Cry 3.
