Atari Appoints Chief Financial Officer

Former TheLadders.com and News Corporation executive Philip Veneziano takes charge of AtariĆs finance, accounting and IT functions.

Atari has announced the appointment of Philip Veneziano as its chief financial officer, effective immediately.

Most recently, Veneziano served as VP of finance at online career services management company TheLadders.com. Prior to that, he held numerous financial management roles at international media firm News Corporation.

In his new role as CFO, Veneziano will be responsible for finance, accounting, IT and various administrative functions at Atari.

“I am pleased to bring Philip to our executive leadership team at a pivotal time in Atari, Inc.’s strategic growth plan,” said company CEO Jim Wilson, to whom Veneziano will report. “His deep experience working with both blue-chip and emerging companies will benefit our organisation as we continue to build Atari Inc.’s future roadmap.”

Venezian said that Atari, which became a US-only brand in July, has “a tremendous opportunity to gain market share”.

Also during July, Atari posted first quarter revenue growth of 30.1 per cent year-on-year, largely thanks to the success of Ghostbusters: The Videogame and The Chronicles Of Riddick: Assault On Dark Athena.
